Meet the Daddy Derek of Netflix.
‘Swiped’ (2018) is another teen comedy on Netflix starring Noah Sentineo, this time from Night Dove Pictures. One of the worst movies I’ve ever seen, it’s intended to be a satirical take on dating apps and hookup culture, but it falls completely flat by being out-of-touch, judgemental and completely ridiculous, resulting in widespread ridicule.
But Ann Deborah Fishman, Swiped’s writer, producer, and director, hasn’t taken this criticism lying down. She lashed out at critics and members of the general public who disliked her film, send intimidating emails to KZbinrs who reviewed it, and even threatened to sue and then copystriked a young KZbinr who made a video on Swiped.
So how could I resist?

UPDATE: Due to a privacy complaint (no guesses who from), I've had to blur out the emails I originally showed in the video, but trust me, they confirm my claims. Fishman responded via email. Here's what she said: "Hello Cynical Reviews, You are factually mistaken - we are not opposing people who do not like SWIPED - we are opposing people who are infringing our valuable copyrights by posting excessive clips of our copyright registered film in their critiques for profit and thus harming our film. Please stop spreading lies about what we are doing - because to repeat - you can hate the film all day long - but you cannot post excessive amounts of the clips from our film in your critiques because that constitutes copyright infringement which is unlawful and actionable. I think you personally did refrain from posting clips from SWIPED in your "commentary" which is great but please do not spread lies about what we are and are not doing. To repeat once again - we are not opposing the haters who have their own problems to deal with - we are stopping the copyright infringers who use excessive number of clips from SWIPED without authorization in their critiques outside and beyond the bounds of fair use. The good news is that some of the You Tubers and their fans are beginning to learn the difference between what constitutes fair use and what constitutes infringement which is beneficial for all content creators. Best, Ann Fishman" Make of that what you will, I suppose. Thanks to El_Gostro for the Fishman caricature. "Bold of someone claiming to be a feminist literally pulling other women and girls down like that." That's literally what the term "internalised misogyny" popularised by intersectional feminism, is, though. Women putting down and deligitimising other women in the name of equality and progress. Also, have a look on how a woman is largely treated by self identifying "feminists" if she's outed herself as an MRA, which someone fighting for equality shouldn't have any íssue with... There are no prerequisites to becoming a feminist, the label can be adopted by anybody, so regardless of what you think the word means or should mean, somebody being called a feminist means absolutely *nothing.* They can mean something comlpetely different with the term than you and/or the dictionary. Which is why I would advise against trying to legitimise the label, as that just makes it easy to abuse the label. Legitimise the causes you believe in instead.

She's literally delusional. She actually convinced herself that she speaks for all women, when in reality, the vast majority of women are capable of conveying their own desires and opinions in a far more mature manner. Most women also don't throw tantrums when other women disagree with them. Contrary to her assertions, many women do enjoy hookup culture! Misogyny is a real issue, so I hate when people try to make EVERYTHING women experience as victimhood. Enjoying sex isn't the "fault of the patriarchy" and Ann Fishman is a far cry from a revolutionary feminist....

I never understood people who just see sex as inherently sexist or misogynistic, nor do I understand most of the core arguments around those claims; it makes it sound like women shouldn't be allowed to enjoy anything related to their bodies (a rather misogynistic mindset in itself). Also, isn't Ann Fishman of the same generation that brought us the sexual revolution? Wasn't the point of that sixties/early seventies movement to show that women enjoy sexual encounters as much as men, and want equal openness and power in and around such encounters?!

More specifically, most of the women who don't like hookup culture aren't actively involved in it. Sure, you may have women (and people of other genders) who try and find love through hookup culture and don't enjoy it - due to whatever circumstantial reasons - but that's a whole other issue. That's not because people are hooking up. That's because of how romance is framed by society and about the deceitful way in which some people frame hookup culture.
@xxgirl101xx
@xxgirl101xx 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah definitely. Don’t get me wrong, there is a lot of sexism in hook-up culture, but there’s sexism in literally everything because the patriarchy sucks ass. Attacking sexual behaviour itself rather than dealing with the way underlying sexism sometimes manifests in sexual behaviour, she just... misses the entire point and sorta ignores other ways people can be sexist.

Boomers say we're ruining things then you got boomers that are homophobic,that try and steal things from actual infants and other young kids,and boomers left us a burning carbon emmision filled earth and told us it was our fault well I'm 20 and not 120 so don't see how I've made the earth worse and in fact boomers are the majority of no maskers so I see very little gen z people in the news just mostly trump and his boomer simps and I got something most americans don't have and that's a diploma of graduation from high school so I feel that things I say should have a bit more attention I'm not always venting in the comment section and more often then nought I make a point every now and again like how women tend to be more sexist and verbally abusive and physically abusive in 2020 and I'm gay but I'm the type of pretty that makes girls wanna reach down the front of my pants and then say I raped whole group when that was the first time in that bar all because some chicks were bored and I started out bisexual but the amount of health risks that come with dating or being around women is retardly high and women won't go to punch ya noooooo they go grab the biggest american psycho kitchen knife they got and chase you aroubd the house/park/work site/office/CEO's homes or even in the middle of a fucking court room like there's a reason that saying goes"bitches be crazy" and y'all snap on different words and also it's cool for women to talk about how weird and unsatisfying are dicks are but you mention that her pussy smells like a cuban ruban and suddenly your hitler and just basically the worst human ever and women ask what's on our minds gurantee this is what we actually think about like what human enjoys chipotle I saw a mountain lion eat some chipotle and it got sick and threw up like not even a full minute later and it's not good tasting either it's just a rich white bitch thing like starbucks or the word "literally" and "oh my gosh/god" eh most of humans are gonna die from covid fingers crossed darwins hand guides the smart one's and not the one's making dog noises because their fav furry bar is closed due to quarantine and the best part is nothing would need to be shut down if idiotic "oh but the mask that doctors wear for hours on end makes me feel faint and light headed so I reason that the masks cutting off my oxygen supply" no it's not that's called a mild panic attack your not gonna die I have asthma and ride a bycycle to go shopping and I wear a mask the whole time I do bong rips all day too so unless you have the lungs of a deformed fetus the surgical masks should work just fine and it's the same thing with seat belts just cause I wear a seat belt doesn't make your family safer in a car crash so if everyone's wearing seatbelts then the rate of automotive deaths would drop dramatically so to would the rate of covid infecting people would start to drop if people took proper precautions and wore masks like the vids of old people with underware as a mask that works or wear a hoodie and put a clear pot lid in it to do a makeshift hazmat suit

The owner ended up going bankrupt with over $500.000 in debt and now lives on welfare in council housing, while the "head chef" tim gray tried to become "legit famous" by applying to be in the uk version of big brother and when that didn't pan out he went back to working in kitchens but can't get a job to save his life and has been arrested several times for DUI, public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and assault.

Knowing it wasn't my magnetic personality and boyish good looks, I always assumed it was because I represented less of a threat in that I was less likely to confuse friendship in class with sexual attraction. I dunno. Just a thought. I'll go ask my wife of 31 years what she thinks.

It's part of the patriarchal ideal: Women all hate sex, men all want sex. That leads to things like "men can't be sexually assaulted, because men all want sex" and "women hate sex, so women can't be sexually abusive." Links into "men are aggressive violent animals and women are weak passive victims" too, which loops back around into "men are abusers in abusive relationships and women are always the victims in such" as well as things like "men succeed in things like business and politics because life is set up for violent aggression and women fail because they aren't violent or aggressive enough; men who aren't violent and aggressive are too feminine and therefore weak while women who are violent and aggressive are too masculine." All fruit of the same tree. And that's what's meant by "patriarchy hurts men too."

10:33 People frequently talk about the Old Boys clubs of workplaces and how exclusionary they can be. But in my personal experience, the shittiness and condescending ageist bullshit towards younger women that comes from Old Lady cliques in the workplace can be just as if not more toxic. In the case of women like Fishman, it's a return of the classic infighting between sex-positive vs sex negative feminism but now with the added element of a generational gap. To her younger women are too stupid and inexperienced to understand what "real" women's empowerment is and she must show them the way or some bullshit like that.
@princesstamika
@princesstamika 5 жыл бұрын
it's less about generations and experience vs inexperience it's more like women of that era also don't respect women because women are not worthy of respect. that's how misogyny works, it wouldn't have so much steam if women didn't also hate women. internalizing "isms" like racism and misogyny works wonders for keeping those isms alive. the targets of those isms live in the world and absorb the same messages from larger society about themselves and often abide by those messages as if they were laws, especially older generations. this is why all those conservative white women still could not muster up enough courage to vote for hillary clinton even tho she was exactly like them; they still voted for a man with 0 experience (over a woman with a lifetime of experience) and a dubious sexual assault history.
@Torthrodhel
@Torthrodhel 5 жыл бұрын
@@princesstamika I was with you up until you suggested Hilary Clinton is like normal people. Trump should thank her for ensuring he got elected, she basically sealed the deal for that colossal racist. If it weren't for her thinking she was owed a premiership by proxy of marriage (and subsequently actually illegally rigging her way against him), the world wouldn't be in this mess. She was and is a disgusting warhawk, who thinks rapists going free is funny, restarted McCarthyism in a big way, and cares only for herself and her sponsors, and it beggars belief that she still has fans. You want to get behind a woman so badly how about have some standards, and go for someone who's actually impressive, someone who actually stands for something, like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. She's a good counterexample. She's someone who's actually against the old boy's club running things, rather than being a stone in its foundations, which the Clinton family always was and is. Hilary weilded sexism like a blunt instrument against someone she had no reason to accuse of it, instead of weilding it against the most obvious deserving target she was actually SUPPOSED to be against. She demanded election because of the shape of her genitals, and gave no other reason. I am not a gential shape, and I won't be treated like one. We mean more in the world than that, and some rich white lawyer wanting a go at power isn't gonna convince me otherwise. Obama was a disgusting murderer as well. As was Bush. And I wasn't paying much attention during Bill's go at being a Clinton but if I did look into it I would expect much of the same. All those corporate fucks are roundly dispicable. Look beyond their surface attributes. Look at what they did. Look at the inhuman actions they deliberately took. That's what makes someone horrible. Honestly wouldn't be a sad day if the entire elitist rotating lot of them got rounded up and shot dead. Hilary was no feminist and the fact that she expected us all to think she was just because she's a woman is a fucking insult. Her and this movie director, well I can see some parallels. And yeah maybe you didn't want all this, maybe you just wanted to sneak a bit of feint propaganda into the mix and hoped it'd go by unchallenged, but you brought politics into it so you get what you ask for. Sorry. We live in a far too cruel world for people not to care about this shit. It's important to get it right. I don't let things slide by like that. There is no "courage" required to vote for an establishment corporatist. The only courage required is to vote against one. She did not lose because anyone lacked courage. She lost because she lacked the will to be a challenge. It was more important to her to lose to a bigot, than it was to allow someone who'd actually have won against him to grab what she saw as her spotlight. The priorities are clear. And lo and behold, now he's in power, it's not her suffering for it, is it? She gives no fuck. She sold her books, she got what she wanted. About all the people going through hell now because of it all, she could give a damn. I look at the people who do seem to give a damn. They're the ones that do stand for something. And I don't care where they come from or what their attributes are. Substance over image, 100% of the time.

I myself had problems with many popular authors who couldn't accept my opinion of their books, which were pretty BAD. And when you expose their shitty behaviour, they say "offering a skype call to a hater"😂😂. When you start having visibility it's bad for them. And it's also because of their ego. However in my case, the authors won and Wattpad deleted my account after I had given it to someone else. fishman is a just a transparent version of most of the people who are in control in the upper sphere of corporate youtube. bitter, insecure old people who don’t want to see the youth put in the work and succeed while they’re still getting paid at the top.
