one more reason why players should never be "loyal" to franchises. Luka played while injured for the Mavs, how many times we saw him limping during games but still giving his all? @ok-xs2oo it was 100% the new majority owners of the mavs trying to make money. They made all their money through the casino business in Vegas. My theory is that they want to relocate the Mavs to Vegas without much backlash from fans. So now they're trying to push fans away by trading away their franchise player and face of the city. I also feel like they're making Nico the scapegoat for all this. Because in the past, he's actually made good moves to build around Luka. Like trading for Gafford, PJ Washington, and signing guys like Klay and Kyrie. My theory is that the owners probably threatened to fire him if he didn't make the trade, then trade Luka themselves after they fired Nico. I think Nicos options were to either trade Luka and keep his job. Or not trade Luka, and get fired, then the owners trade Luka themselves. It actually makes sense if you look into the owners and what they're all about. If what i just said isn't convincing enough, these owners were also involved in the Raiders moving to Vegas as well...

The Lakers window went to closing fast to wide open, they have the next 7-8 years to win. The Mavericks just gave up there future for the notion of winning now, despite the fact they are only a decent team. Don't get me wrong, AD and Kyrie will make something work with the solid depth, but this team might won't beat the Thunder, the Nuggets, or the Grizzlies, and now the Lakers. They gave up possibly the best player they've ever had, for a 31 year old Anthony Davis. He has been healthy, but he's old. Luka is 25! They gave up a guaranteed future, and for what? They're now handcuffed, if they don't win a chip within the next 3 years, they can't live this down. Nico Harrison better have been on some damn good drugs, because there's no real reason for trading the best thing to happen to you since Dirk Nowitzki. The fans don't come to see Nico Harrison, they come to see Luka Doncic. To the fans of Dallas, I'm sorry. This is heartbreaking, I would be calling for Harrison's ouster as well. The confusing thing is even if they really wanted AD, why didn't they use the other teams to pressure the Lakers? Why was this deal done under the cover of dark with only one bidder? Sam Presti and Danny Ainge would have fleeced the Lakers for everything they've got. Imagine a real estate agent selling the best mansion in the neighborhood and accepting the first offer that came in that morning.

The Adelson family needs to be investigated, and here's why. The Adelson Family build their wealth and fortune in the casino and resort business in Las Vegas, Nevada, and with them purchasing the Mavericks, they wanted to bulid a connection and expend their casino gambling business to Texas, even though gambling is banned from Texas. Bruh, they even tried to build a stadium/casino in the Fort Worth Dallas area. Hell, they even came out publicly saying that they don't care about basketball at all. Mark Cuban, the former owner of the Mavericks, came out saying they are not basketball people. The Adelson family whose main motivation is money and expanding their casino business played in the Luka Doncic trade 100%. Think about it, Luka Doncic getting traded to LA will have higher ticket prices, more merchandise sales, more people traveling to LA, more jobs, and will bring so much money into the city of LA, and what does alot of rich people do in LA, they go on a trip to Las Vegas to party and gamble. Besides, LA and Las Vegas are just 4 hours apart from each other, which means more money will flow to both LA and Las Vegas casinos and resorts, which definitely means more money for the Adelson family, and the compound the fact that the Mavs only talked to the Lakers makes it even more obvious. By the way, you wanna know why the Raiders are in Las Vegas now, yeah the Adelson family are the same family and the reason why the Raiders moved to Las Vegas in the first place. So not only all that I just broke down about the situation, plus you also have to add the fact that the NBA is talking about Las Vegas could be the NBA's next expansion team. The Luka Doncic only benefits the Lakers and the Adelson family. It doesn't benefit the Mavericks at all. The NBA has to do an investigation on this because this doesn't make sense

The more I think about this trade, the more I DON'T dislike it for Dallas. There's obviously more to the story that we won't find out about for a minute, so we can only speculate. But based upon what we do know - I could see Dallas asking themselves the question of whether it is worth it or not to give someone $345 million when they've shown that they don't take their conditioning and overall physical fitness super seriously? I mean, if he wasn't doing it before, he's probably not going to start now. Yes, we can all agree he carried Dallas to the Finals and had very timely contributions from his teammates (Kyrie and the bigs). But we also all saw him get absolutely exposed and abused on defense when it mattered most. And it's not like nobody talked about it either. The talking heads were all over it. I haven't followed Dallas too hard, and I know he's been dealing with injuries, but didn't he come into the season not in the greatest shape? I swear there have been some "rumors/reports" aka potential hit pieces saying he had gone up to 270lbs. If making the Finals and losing on the biggest stage partially because of your poor defense wasn't a big enough motivator to be in tip-top shape this season...why would a bag of money change that? Lot of mileage on dude's legs and body at such a young age. I also get the vibe that playing for Slovenia > playing for the Mavs. He loves his country and goes all out to try and get them onto the international stage. I know they missed out on Paris 2024, but any opportunity he gets, he goes to play. And that's the other thing, there was a summer he played for Slovenia and still came into camp out of shape. If I'm the Mavs owner, I'd weigh it up. I don't think a bidding war would have worked in Dallas favour. Would opposing teams gut their teams to get him? Who do you replace on a top team for him? I may not 100% agree with the trade, and I think AD was the best they could get from a contention standpoint. He doesn't need to play the 5. He's a top 3 defender in the league. He can get a bucket. He's already been to the mountaintop and knows what it takes to win. I ain't mad at it. But that's just me. 🤷🏾‍♂️

What about the “story behind” Steve Nash and his “conditioning issue”? Stop repeating the media’s lies about the max contract. The contract scale is structured to increase with the broadcasting revenue. Just like the “huge” contracts before that, the supermax will become a normality of superstars of this era.
@TheHislopp
@TheHislopp 5 күн бұрын
@Obfluss.S what stories about Nash's conditioning? Lol wut, Mark Cuban cited that as one of his biggest regrets and mistakes. What lies from the media am I reporting? Read what I wrote, not what you want to see. Owners don't want to end up like the Suns with their massive tax bills. It's a new NBA. The supermax hasn't exactly shown that it "works" when looking at it from the standpoint of winning titles. It also doesn't exactly do much to keep players in certain cities, like De'Aaron Fox for example. He could have gotten it from Sac and he still bounced. I honestly have no clue what you're talking about by bringing up the contract sale. Billionaires don't like to depart with their the money. The Adelsons are great proof of that. That is the point I'm making.
@TheHislopp
@TheHislopp 5 күн бұрын
@Obfluss.S what stories about Nash's conditioning? Lol wut, Mark Cuban cited that as one of his biggest regrets and mistakes. I don't need the media to show me that Luka comes into seasons out of shape and then plays himself into shape. We've seen it constantly throughout his career, just like we've seen his weight balloon up and down. How is it a running joke that he looks like THAT and is still giving everyone work? I also have no idea why you're bringing up contract scale and the broadcast deals. Billionaires love money, nothing more nothing less. The Adelsons aren't some benevolent billionaires. They didn't get to where they are by giving away money. Also nobody wants to be the Suns. It's a new day in the NBA, and it's not like the supermax has shown to work when it comes to a championship winning perspective or retaining talent perspective (De'Aaron Fox for example). Read what I wrote my dude, not what you think I wrote. If all you cared about was money and making more of it, giving someone $345 million dollars might not be something you're keen on.

There's more to this story and we will eventually find out more (years later). Mark Cuban was a majority owner and fan and owned up to the teams decisions like Steve Nash and Jalen Brunson leaving. Him being majority owner, he was solely responsible and never shied from the critics. Donny Nelson didn't have to hear the ridicule. The new ownership is not built like that but it was their final decision and possibly their idea to begin with despite what Nico Harrison said. If they don't win a championship it is easier for Nico Harrison to take the fall and the Dallas Mavericks continue.

I've lived in Dallas my entire life and have been a Mavs fan since I started watching basketball. I remember when Mark Cuban bought the team. This is the best breakdown I've seen so far with how frustrating this organization has been. I can't think of another place that has fumbled so many contending teams and star players who WANT to play here. It's really amazing that Dirk stayed here as long as he did, and it's pretty ironic how one of the most loyal players of all time is the face for one of the most disloyal organizations ever. This trade is worse than losing the 06 finals and losing to the we believe Warriors in 07, and really the last nail in the coffin for me. Hope Kyrie is able to get out of here before they do him dirty too.
