The highlight of the trip

The smallest plane to operate into London Heathrow is actually the Loganair ATR42 which flies to and from Dundee twice each weekday. I love Swiss- they are usually friendly and efficient and Zurich Airport is usually a joy to connect in (have never had a lost baggage experience). Out of interest, how long before the date of the flight did you book? Could this have been a factor in the higher flight cost? However the days of bargain air travel seem to be behind us these days- the price of even flying low cost airlines has increased massively since COVID.

Aha! didn't realise the ATR42 is slightly smaller than the ERJ 145. I actually booked these flights back in May so 4 months in advance, not sure how that might affect the pricing. Also agreed on connections at Zurich. On the way back we were flying from Istanbul to London via Zurich and it literally took 10 minutes from stepping off the plane to arriving at our connecting gate. That includes getting a train from the satellite terminal and going through security. Also the flight back is with Helvetic Airways, so that review will be coming soon.
