Swiss A340-300 - Beautiful Takeoff out of Zurich to Dusseldorf

ZRH-DUS: Lucky enought to fly the A340-300 on a inter-europe route. Lately Swiss has been flying them to Geneva and Hanover but now Dusseldorf is fairly common, at least in the month of July. It was a beautiful day in Zurich with partly cloudy skies. We departed about an hour late late due to air traffic control restrictions. I've noticed that in Zurich, when departing around 17:00, there are typically delays (at least it's happened to me 3 times when flying out around that time of day).

It's the same one as the 737 Classic, 737 Next Gen, and A320 first gen

That sound is what allows this thing with hair driers to fly. A vibrational frequency that levitates it like honey bees levitate.

something that always amazes me is the cracking and rattling noises right after TOGO thrust love the sound of the engines

Fan blade roots are not rigidly anchored in the hub, but are free to flex around. I'm not sure why they do it, but it causes the famous buzz that's especially loud in the RB211

Parts of the jet are built to flex and move around a little bit. The wings bend when thrust is applied.

340 is a master piece of engineering. Very healthy safety record and very comfortable too. I really enjoyed the flight when travelling. Than any other.

Pick up an A321ceo and double the noise. Then you get an A340.

As a former ramp agent for AA at JFK, I remember when these birds were brought into service by our international guest carriers at our terminal, IBERIA and AEROLINAS ARGENTINAS. While our own older A300 600 series were a nightmare to load and offload cargo from due to their nearly inoperable cargo conveyor systems, these were an absolute joy to work with. The drives could load and offload the heaviest of containers and pallets with the greatest of ease. Airbus always improved their products as they went along .....

I worked baggage on both small and large. Here in British Columbia. Maybe it was big and bigger. Beaver Otter Grumman Goose C130 707 737-200 Oh what a pleasure the money was pathetic but that did not matter when I was working airside. My best experience ever getting to Marshall in a Dash 8 at Campbell River BC I'd never done it before it came to me like surprise jury duty. edit; most challenging job,, working as a civilian at military base tasked with loading a huge crated but exposed radial engine from the Argus onto C130. No aircraft were harmed in the process. But by the grace of God go I heh heh

if you notice they have to run them at full throttle a lot longer than other planes and higher rpm at cruise, the power to weight makes those lil guys work a bit harder.

Quite the plane for such a short route. I remember being on one of these when Lufthansa started their nonstop flight between PDX and FRA in 2005.

Yes and for some reason Lufthansa no longer flys that route. They stopped a few years ago. I imagine it wasn't profitable enough to maintain it. Perhaps Condor started service
