I got my bottle thid morning. I get a blast of the toffee in the opening and the bitterness you speak of kicks in (first spray). I waited a couple hours and sprayed again and the bitterness had calmed. I completely agree with you in that it's complex. The drydown is lovely. It's not your girly, foody gourmand. It needs to sit but I like it.

i was gonna wait for the price to drop too, but i lasted all of 2 hours once i found out it was available in the US. 🙈 it's definitely not the buttery caramel/toffee or sweet coffee fragrance i thought it was, but i think i'll grow to like it more over time-- once i get used to the bitterness of the coffee and burnt sugar or it develops a bit. thanks for your thoughts! i listened on my way home to pick up the package lol! ❤

Hi Adowa - I think this one is inspired by Guerlain Tonka Imperial which I have so I will wait to see if I get a sample. From what you are describing it does not sound like Tonka Imperial. Maybe I got it wrong. Have a lovely weekend. 🥰 I see some site already have it for 59 vs the 75 list price but sold out at the lower price. On Swiss Arabian EU it is 59 Eur so I will wait till Black Friday if I can lol😶‍🌫

Hi Wendy, I don't think Toffee is inspired by Guerlain's Tonka Imperiale. This was the light blue bottle of Shaghaf Oud Tonka. I have Guerlain Tonka Impériale, Dior Fève Delicieuse, BDK Velvet Tonka and Shaghaf Oud Tonka. They all definitely belong to the same scent family, but are still different. But I love them all. I think this Toffee one is more dominant on the dates like Cheirosa 71 or Lattafa Kamrah Qahwa or Stinky Dates by Lush. I think I pass on this one or wait till the price drop, as you do!

Sis, you got waaayyyy more out of Vanilla Toffee than I did. I received mine today and I did not get anything Complex, I got Simple. At first spray I got a coffee and then a burnt Toffee or a butterscotch. However that was gone in 15min In about 2 hours it dried down to a,faint musk note. The coffee, Vanilla, and Toffee did not last .Basically, it needs to macerate

@adwoalovesfragrances5324 I guess I feel like it's simple because it needs time to mature. I have a 10/24 bottle and I didn't smell anything but musk after 30 min . I hope mine does become complex after a few weeks because I paid full price of $70. I agree with you on it not being the sweet gourmand we expected. I wished the coffe/burnt Toffee would stay throughout the scent. Thanks again for your review

I absolutely hated this and was extremely disappointed when I sprayed it upon receiving it. I spent way too much money on it for it to smell so bad. I’ve put it away and can only hope it completely changes after sitting for a while.

I swear people are getting two different batches!!! It is NOT my skin chemistry, it is the juice in my bottle, smells like bitter charred burnt and stuck in the pot sugar. I am not happy 😢

Hi Vanessa, I don’t think that are different batches since it’s newly launched. It can be a handful at its initial state. It felt more complex to me but not anymore. I get the butterscotch more now. Allow it to sit for a while and see if it will still give you same thing 🤞

I thought this would be one of my favorite fragrances for fall. I bought a bottle in Dubai and I REALLY DISLIKE it. It's so tragic 😂 I thought it would be a sweet gourmand but it smells like a heavily vanilla flavored pipe tobacco with liquorice. Hate it 😂

I don’t get the bitter nuances you did. I get a creamy butterscotch with some nutty undertones. It seems light and airy as opposed to the rest of the Shagafs. I think it will get stronger with time.
