The reason it still works is because while windows is always being updated, the developers never change the fundamentals and back bone of the program, hence why even the oldest windows softwares still work on the latest version of windows, something Macintosh doesn’t do well.

Wow, I remember hearing about this back then, although sadly I had a Mac at the time so I couldn't play it. I noticed on the package it says SubLogic helped develop it, which is the same company who developed the earliest versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator in the 80's. So in a way it's like a cousin to the later Microsoft simulators. A couple other 90's sims you should be on the lookout for are Fly! (yes, with the exclamation point) and Flight Unlimited (which was actually quite limited because you could only fly around Seattle, but everything else about it sounded great for the time).

My grandpa gave me his Microsoft flight simulator 2002 professional edition along with his Microsoft sidewinder force feedback joystick from 1998. I still use the joystick but I lost the sim.

i remember this one.. i actualy tryed it, and it looked amazing with a 3DFX card... i was 10 years old at the time, in my memory the clouds appaired volumetric in 3DFX... the graphics was huge steps better than MS FS 98

I'm actually very impressed that a flight simulator this good existed for Windows 95, and that the graphics cards of back then were able to handle it. Actually, I think the 3D rendering may have been done by the CPU back then but this still just blows me away! The terrain, the graphics, and all the airports and planes available is actually quite good for its time. Even Total Air War, one of the oldest simulators I grew up playing, was not nearly this good and was from 1998.
