It was a crappy plane, plagued with flaws, and that McDonnell Douglas legacy went through Boeing management and ended up with the MAX wreck, the 787 quality issues, etc. Paris has very bad memories of the DC-10 : One lost a cargo door, exploded by sucking the cabin floor through the cargo door and crashed after take-off, it literally rained dead bodies over North Paris region (Turkish), one bound to Paris was shot down in Africa (not its fault at least, UTA) and one Continental caused the Concorde to crash by losing a piece of its engine on the runway a few minutes before Concorde took-off... That promotional pic of the DC-10 "salon" is just an add, that config barely flew a month before it was filled with seats. I hated every flight I had on the DC-10: uncomfortable, badly pressurized, vibrating with a high frequency at high speed (tailwind) so much that you got blurred vision and itchy ears... The TriStar was a far better trijet but I rarely had the chance to fly it.
