Swissair Flight 111 - Crash Animation

On September 2, 1998 Swissair flight 111 was flying from JFK airport in New York to Geneva Switzerland, but just minutes into it’s flight. Pilots smell smoke coming from the back of the cockpit the flight immediately diverts to Nova Scotia Canada, but they never make it. The flight crashes into the sea, killing all 229 people on board.

@@tyronwsison Originally, the pilots wanted to go to Boston, since that was the closest airport to them that the pilots were familiar with, but when ATC asked if they wanted to go to Halifax, much closer than Boston, they reluctantly agreed. I say reluctantly because both pilots had never flown into Halifax’s airport, and thus they had to learn about the airport while flying and also doing so many checklists as well. Once *most* of the checklists were done, it was far too late. Even if the pilots knew about Halifax’s layout, it would have taken them about 25 minutes to reach the airport, including checklists and fuel dumping. The MD-11 crashed 21 minutes after the smoke was detected by the pilots. So there’s your answer.

Im from saint Margaret’s bay it still has relevance in the community to this day I’d also like to point out the plane got to a very low altitude to the point that it shook houses as it flew over head it didn’t just nose dive it kept lowering its altitude as the crew had no clue where they were going they also dumped fuel all over east saint margrets school and some houses

There is another simulation that gives it a more realistic look. On the other one the plane doesn’t drop into the water. The plane actually starts to descend with the plane hitting nose first but the rest of the plane disintegrates.

Aviation is the safest because planes rarely crash. Compare it with a car or a coach that crashes everyday everywhere, just that it's not publicized. Plus aircraft accidents mostly are just small emergencies landings. Those are almost always survivable. The crashes where the plane falls out of the sky only happens once a year at this point which means only ~250 people has died from planes a year. People die more from trains if it's put like that.
