Episode 2: The fondue invasion

The new episode of our "Switzerland says sorry" series tells the unbelievable story of how Switzerland «invented» fondue as a way to get rid of all the surplus cheese it produced but was unable to sell otherwise. The video gives a short insight into the Swiss Cheese Union, a mafia-like cheese cartel responsible for price-fixing, bribery and flooding the world with melted cheese.

This is the first real satyrical piece I've seen about Switzerland and it's incredibly well made. I've moved to Geneva a month ago and many things about Switzerland have come up in conversation. One of the most recurrent one is the house market and the "evil" régies who control it all. For example, why some apartments are not properly advertised online (no photos, little description, etc.). I've heard that régies only do it because they are obliged by law to make an open bid for the apartments, but in reality the future tenants are already picked in advance. So the régies show the apartments to thirsty customers, collect their documentation and so on, but then refuse the offer. It's just for sake of appearances. Is this true? Not true? Perhaps it's worth an episode... Thank you!

I have personally introduced at least three Swiss people to British Extra Mature Cheddar, and blown their minds. They are now addicted. I like to think this has spread, and in part triggered MIGROS to recently sell their own branded version of said cheddar. For slowly destroying the Swiss cheese market, I am sorry, not sorry. 😂
