I am Swiss from the Valais where raclette comes from. The perfect raclette is melted cheese with crispy brown skin. The cheese should NEVER be burned!!

This kind of cheese , Raclette cheese, is a must eat in Swizerland. I didn't get used to its sense at first but when I put them in my mouth it smell really special, nice and creamy. Especially when they complement with baked pear and a glass of red wine. Yummy~

To most of the people who watch this video that would like to try it out at home : True raclette requires a good raclette machine but if you're poor and are dying for a raclette, just use an oven. Steam your potatoes (try not peeling them) and get some good ham (not cheap market one, get some good friggin ham from your local butcher) and pickles. Pour the melted cheese on the potatoes and don't loose time adding stuff on it (as it cools down in matter of seconds). Eat it quick, hot and easy with a bite of meat n pickle. That's the killer my friends

I'll let you know, lad : that's the way we do it in France and Switzerland. Thoses are not really pickle btw but "cornichon" : they are quite crunchier and acidic, so don't judge if you haven't tasted.

But while some brand of cornichon are exactly the same thing as pickles in sizes, taste, crunch, etc... most of them sold in France are way smaller than traditional pickles and much more acidic as well. The taste is just completely different and goes well with all thing cheesy. TL;DR : some cornichons are exactly like pickles, but if you asked for Cornichons in France, the chances are it won"t taste and look the same at all.
