Just got the steel chronograph black dial. 41mm wears like 43 and it's a heavy watch (180gr with some links taken off, feels no smaller and lighter than SD43)... not for the small wrists for sure but fits perfectly to my 18cm wrist. But what a beauty, cannot take my eyes off...for me the best looking chronograph in the market

a beauty no discussion, they say AP is a one trick pony but what a pony. I had the chance to try the 41mm model and what impressed me the most was the bracelet, I also liked the shiny and thin bezel but ohh man do be careful. given the nautilus is more than twice the money I'm not so sure about the comparison but the nautilus case design and machinery inside puts it at a higher level. Take both if you can.

Many Congrats to your purchase! Funny to see that many people nowaday go for the 37mm as it really wears a lot bigger. It may look like a 38-39mm watch but honestly I think it wears more like a 40mm. Glad to see that it works great on your bigger wrist as well! Funny enough I owned an 42mm Offshore Diver with the rubber strap and it wears a lot better than any 41mm RO with the bracelet (on my 16cm - 6.25" wrist). Of course it's a hefty watch but as like 40mm Panerai Luminor models they are pretty wearable with smaller wrists as well if you like the big, bold look of a watch. That said, regarding 'regular' RO's I also prefer the 37mm versions. Also because I like the dial balance better with the small index on the 3 o´clock position. All the best from Germany!

I do prefer smaller watches to wear on a daily basis so the 37mm RO was a great choice :). I recently reviewed the new Ikepod watches and the 46mm Megapod also wears much smaller than the size suggests. I always tell people to try the watches on themselves before they decide on a size. :)

I really love the AP Royal Oak, not only because it's a beautiful and quite outstanding watch, but because it was Tim Bergling's (a.k.a AVICII) favourite watch. Back in my early 20s, I was a huge fan of Avicii and never missed a chance to see him live. When he passed away in 2018, my heart was beyond broken. Fast forward to 2020, I was just getting back into watches and discovered that Tim wore an AP Royal Oak (he must've owned several) in pretty much every single photo taken of him. Probably his coolest piece was a 57th St. Offshore Chronograph limited to 250 pieces, that was sold exclusively on the opening day of the AP boutique on 57th street in New York. I personally don't have the money to afford a Royal Oak, but I recently bought a Bersigar homage that comes pretty close to the original design-wise. Now I know, it's just a cheap homage with a simple quartz movement, but at least I get an idea of what it feels like to wear an AP Royal Oak on my wrist!

RO is sharp, Nautilus is silky on the wrist, both watches are comfortable and nice look. I personally a bit prefer Nautilus due to it fits better on me. But I can say RO has the best bracelet with fantastic presence and it is definitely one of the best dress sports watch.

I think this watch is as close to horological perfection as is possible. Congratulations on the purchase! Very simple yet good looking design. The screw heads not aligning does bug me, at this price i expect that level of attention to detail. It would be interesting to hear your opinion on the Royal Oak and all the other watches that are either "homage" or try to replicate the Port hole design, is it lazy design? From recent memory, I'd say probably the Bell and Ross BR 05. It's like when the Macbook came out and all the other laptops started going for the uni-body design. Either way, wonderful video! Regarding homage watches I am not really against them and the BR especially for me doesn't resemble the royal oak a lot. I think people get obsessed with comparing watches merely on a few design elements. Almost everything under the sun has been designed already and I think putting screws on the bezel and a steel bracelet doesn^t make these watches look the same. It's like if we would accuse every round watch copying the next one, just with the AP and Nautilus being such icons it stands out more. Thank you for watching!

@@SwissWatchGang I see your point. It's like that common comparison between Richard Mille and Hublot, or anything rectangular reminiscent of the Cartier Tank. I think homage watches, make it accessible for people who cannot afford to pay such astronomical prices to be able to own a piece they can appreciate in terms of design. Nomos has come a long way, and it's one of those things; if you see one - it's unmistakably a German design. It's more the design language. The Royal Oak holding its value in the Brutalist design, the industrial looks of it. I wish you all the best, my friend. Do take care.

Congratulations! Wear it in the best of health. I also much prefer the Royal Oak. I feel that the case design presents a more solid and rigid appearance. Where the Nautilus relies on shine and high polish for most of its luxurious presence the Royal Oak employs high polish sparingly and relies on some of the most sophisticated brushwork I’ve ever seen. The details and direction are so precise and finite. Each fine brushed line on the case connects perfectly with a matched brushed line on the bracelet. This integrity of line through brushing continues through every connecting link on the bracelet. It’s absolutely confounding that this level of craftsmanship has been achieved in every example hand made since 1972. The result is a softly polished glow rather than a shine with just hints of glistening at the appropriate places that further reflect light and it looks even better in evening lighting and candlelight than it does during the day.
