I hope the Oblivion remaster comes to the switch 2... If Metroid Prime 4 & Mario Kart doesn't sell the Switch 2 for you, what games would sell it for you? Or would it have to just be more big titles cumulatively?

That's a great question! A Legend of Zelda game would do it for me, for sure. If there was a really good exclusive RPG, that would also probably do it. But other than that, it would be the cumulative library.

For me, a new Zelda would make me extremely interested. It could stick with the BoTW formula. But if it refreshed, I’d be even more hyped.

Nice job tying two of the topics together and great question. Even though the guys are answering below, might have to use it on next week's show too! For me, Nintendo needs the big guns. I want to see the Mario, I want a hint of Zelda, maybe an Animal crossing. But I also want a hint of something from left field, like a Kid Icaraus or StarTropics. They need a well-rounded lineup. Otherwise, I'll wait until they get there. What about you? Besides Oblivion (of course! 😂), what do you want to see?

@@GoodPlayingWithYou I think I am pretty sold with Mario Kart and Metroid to start, I expect that some other great ones will come. I would like to see improved Mario sports games, especially baseball. Based on Golf and Strikers, I don't have much faith in it being good though. A new Zelda would be good, I'd even take a new remaster like Link's Awakening. I would like to see a new Star Fox, but I feel it has been so long since they had a really good Star Fox game. I think they could do some really cool things with the IP, hopefully not like Star Fox Adventures

I applaud everything Dan is saying about the price increase talk, and how the media seems to be pushing that narrative despite it not actually being a thing any game publisher is talking about (including Take Two). Another factor is that necessities, like groceries and housing, have increased in price MORE than inflation, and wages have NOT kept up with inflation over the last couple decades. So while the "analysts" can all talk about how game pricing hasn't gone up at a steady rate with inflation, the reality is that consumers actually have LESS discretionary income than they used to. If they raise prices further, then they genuinely risk losing people, especially at a $100 price point, which would be insane. And like you said, the REAL money is in microtransactions (or "Shark Cards," in GTA's case) anyway. Rockstar would be stupid to push the issue and potentially lower their sales, when such a huge part of their model is hooking people in to fleece them later. Also, as a father of three, I totally get Lord's desire to just be able to play games in bed as a "fantasy." Haha. Although, do you really need a new monitor just to play the Switch in bed, when it's already portable? I also use my Steam Deck as a one-size-fits-all, sneak-some-game-time device. In addition to games natively installed, I can also stream games from my PC, and I installed Chiaki and Greenlight to stream from my PS5 and my Xbox, respectively. I HIGHLY recommend that as a way to be more flexible/efficient with games. Chiaki in particular is excellent, so long as your wifi set up is solid.

Thanks, Ross! Appreciate you giving the pod a listen. And I agree with your points about inflation. My concern is that if they do raise prices, they will start to shrink the audience they are trying to grow and it will just make matters worse. And yeah, the Dad struggle sounds real. I respect Lord's gamer "fantasy" but as my friend it's my job to make fun of him a bit too. 😂

Great insight on the industry support for price increases, those analyst articles are highly sus. Funny that the analyst claims prices haven't increased on games in 2 decades. Dan you're right, the industry needs to save itself, it's not the responsibility of the customers. Innovation is the answer and that requires investment from companies. So maybe more investment there and fewer stock buy backs / other b.s. uses of capital.

Thank you! This had me triggered for real! I even wrote an editorial on the website! Ha ha. We have to do our best to push back on these constant price increases. Just look at Netflix, they are getting away with murder at this point and no one says anything.
