@@gamingonwheels2502 Imagine being sympathetic for other human beings, ya frakkin toaster....Jesus Christ. Because some literally poor soul could catch a break and get a game for mega dirt cheap, but instead they're forced to look somewhere else because a reseller supplies their business using the entire public inventory. WALMART ISN'T A WHOLESALER. They don't exist to supply businesses with profitable commodities, it is first and formost to provide the average citizen inexpesive options compared to most stores. And no, I'm not wishing failure and bankruptcy upon the reseller - there are countless other places that they can buy their inventory cheap enough to resell it, which non-business customers can't go and buy just the same. But they instead choose to wipe out the public supply for their own personal gain. I mean I guess you wouldn't care about that if you're a reseller....but if you're a human being with any semblance of sympathy, it's not hard to understand why someone might consider it a problem. We see it all the time with cheap laptops that customers constantly wait for us to get in inventory. Then resellers show up the day they arrive because they're tracking the shipments and want to snag them before the customers even had a chance. It's completely unfair. This isn't just the auction house in some MMO where you're simply exploiting the game's mechanics for virtual currency, this is real life, and it affects real people. Sure it's just consumer electronincs, not life or death, but it can still have an effect on people, and just because something doesn't affect someone personally doesn't mean it shouldn't bother them. You'd have to be a really emotionally disconnected person to not understand that. Or just a reseller yourself. Or both.

Secret price seems really weird concept. If the store wants to get rid of some items then the lower price should be visible to any customer without asking help. I don't live in US and we don't generally talk to people (for any reason) and have digital anything which can be digital even if the item is physical (apps for stores, LCD price tags, mobile payments, coupons in apps, membership card in apps, ...). Still as a game collector I would like something like this if I knew there was a clearance. I buy several games less than $10 and they are then soon worth $100 but I'm not selling as I'm not into money (and hate the hassle) but collecting.

The reason they limit sells is to prevent re-sellers from buying all of them. These people will try to buy out the entire stock while its on sell or clearance. If they cant sell it, then they will return in 2-3 months later, causing stores a loss. Clearance items need go to make room for new items. When they return it months later, the time has expired to sell it. Store just salvages the item and makes nothing on it. New release games, if someone buys them all, the store will order more. The concept of "hidden clearance" sounds so idiotic to me. If a store wants to get rid of stock, just mark it down accordingly, and be upfront about the pricing. So many of these parasites out here scooping everything up, just to resell and rip people off later. Meanwhile, normal people that genuinely enjoy the product get screwed. I understand secondhand garage sale/estate sale flippers taking products from obscure locations and reselling for a profit online, but doing this straight out of retail outlets seems scummy and pathetic. I'd hardly consider major retailers like Walmart obscure locations. At that point, you're just being a pathetic scalper, and a cancer to society. The same kind of losers that make it difficult for people to find current Gen consoles, because they scalp the hell out of the market. I'm glad that's fixed now at least, and you can order direct from the source.
@overthrone3494 Жыл бұрын
Having to order consoles directly from these companies online only is what made them so hard to get. At least at a physical location you can only be in 1 place at a time and they can limit 1 per customer. Online someone with bots can be at all the stores appearing as multiple customers. Someone buying product that’s months or years old and is marked down because it didn’t sell during its expected time is not remotely similar. There’s sales all the times on digital games with no supply limit that people can buy from and if someone wants to get a particular game on sale all they have to do is track this stuff and go grab it before someone else whether it’s a reseller or another enjoyer of the game. It’s not like bots can go pick up that physical copy
@overthrone3494 Жыл бұрын
All these big box stores do when they get rid of clearance items anyways is sell them in bulk to someone who owns a discount store where it’s just a mess of merchandise where they’ve already taken out most the good stuff to sell on eBay anyways only leaving a little bit to entice customers and they got it cheaper than the people who bought it on clearance

One time when Octopath Traveler was being clearanced out at Walmart for $15, I went to try and get a couple copies for people in a Nintendo Switch collecting Discord, and the employee told me how I could "be honest" with him about how I planned to buy the three copies left and trade them in at GameStop for store credit, which I was not going to do. He said the game was one per customer, and I was only able to get one copy for the group (I already got the game way before that). The employee talked about how he planned to get a copy to trade at GameStop, so when I tried to go second round for another copy not even an hour later, the last two copies were gone. It was still a bit rude for the Walmart employee to assume I only wanted to resell. I'm not someone who buys stuff to resell. In case anyone wants to know why they go on "hidden clearance", it's because when they update the pricing on their handhelds, workers are either too busy or too lazy to update the physical label Lol. Walmart workers have to update it on their handheld or else it will be counted as late, and a bad look on upper management.

God forbid some other people can come up on deals to enjoy games. No, no. The grifter resellers should just be able to buy out the entire store. To be clear, if there's no purchase limit, it is what it is. But suggesting that purchase limits are "lame" because you just want to get yours is pretty lame too.

Solid scores. I never score when Walmart clearances stuff, but this time I did pretty well. I was able to snag: Overcooked Series X for $4 (x3) Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 Switch for $4 (x3) Balan Wonderworld Switch for $4 (x2) Battlefield 1 PS4 for $1.50 (x2) Not too bad. Kept one copy of Tetris & Overcooked and traded the rest into Gamestop for over $100 extra in credit.

@@maverick5311 In Gamestop Credit, yes. They were doing a 50% extra credit promo at the time. I paid a grand total of $27 for the copies I traded in and got $102 in credit from Gamestop. Just double checked the calculations. My original calculations included the two games I kept, so it was $75 extra credit. Still fantastic.

I dont really mind people going around and buying stuff on hidden clearance like this. It's not like you're limiting the supply of the games at MSRP for normal people. What's scummy is like, grown men who stalk distributors to Walmart and Targets to buy every major Pokemon card restock item immediately so they can resell them for 4x MSRP. Those people contribute nothing to society.

I got super lucky last year at Walmart, they had just knocked down (all for Nintendo Switch) Arms, Diablo 3, Xenoblade Chronicles 1, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Octopath Traveler and a few other AAA titles to $10 at my local Walmart. And they were sitting behind the register waiting to be put back up in the glass display cases. I told them I'll take them all. I scooped them all up. All in all, 40 copies in total for all the games for $400+tax. How I found out about them was the employee (an elderly woman) told me they had a bunch of games marked down to $10 if I was looking for clearance games. And I said sure I'll take a look. And lo and behold my jaw dropped when I saw the titles.
