I finished working on this video a few days ago but was hesitant to release it because I don't really want to do future ones after figuring out how bad searching with EdiZon/NoExes is. Unknown searches don't work correctly in EdiZon (results do not refine, sometimes a "refined" search ends up with more results than the previous one) and noexes is not user friendly at all, so making a tutorial on that would be painful. Specifically, it requires kip1 loading to work, a decent internet connection or hotspot with Windows 10 (requires connecting online), and even those things don't guarantee a stable search. Then, it uses 1 core to refine results (which could take up to an hour in some cases). So yeah, that's why I don't really want to make any future ones. They're not good for learning with, or for teaching with.

So, question...say the value I'm looking to modify was found in MAIN instead of HEAP...if I'm using your tool, would I select NSO or HEAP? I would presume NSO, but is that right? Also, how do I determine if I have to input a value as a direct decimal value, a hexadecimal value, or if it's a floating point I need to convert?

@@IamTheAbyssal through experimentation I figured out that selecting NSO when using a MAIN address works, it's just not immediately clear. In the case of my situation (Phantasy Star IV via Sega Genesis Classics), the character stats are in MAIN memory, rather than HEAP, and they seem to accept direct decimal value inputs, though the game displays strange numbers once they update for the first time, so maybe I do need to convert to HEX? I'm super confused on how to tell. And this is just a simple emulated 16-bit title, I really need clarification before I tackle more advanced games, like Red Faction: Guerrilla ReMARStered.

This is tough. I got it to work for a game like bunny park for infinite money but how do I go about making it an actual cheat that I can share with my friends straight out from edizon overlay? Wish that part was simple. However, it’s fine I can play/enjoy/conquer my games and feel accomplished by keeping it running in sleep mode until it gets completed.

Many times these codes actually require pointers to work after turning off console or on other peoples consoles. This teaches you how to find the direct address that you can just edit and work with for that session, but it'll likely be different for everyone else. I have a video on how to search for pointers and turn them into codes, but it's a more complicated process than this and doesnt always work

Great video. I've been using edizon for a while now usually without issue. Recently I've been trying to edit values in Farmer's Dynasty. I've tried editing money which is dollars and cents without any luck. Wondering if you had any ideas for a value such as that. I should also note that searching for values of other inventory items was also unsuccessful (apples, eggs etc). Thanks.

A couple ideas for the first question. You could either try searching for the float represention of dollars and cents. so 1.50 or 2.99 for example, convert these numbers to float, for example with this site: geckocodes.org/index.php?arsenal=3 If this doesn't work, just do an unknown search for greater than/less than and eventually you'll find it. For items, this would just need to be where you keep on searching equal or not equal. Eventually you'll find it. Make sure to test and log item IDs so searches are easier in the future for item related stuff

I know this video is old and it covers HEAP and pointers, but what do you do with Edizion when you get an address in MAIN which is perfect, doesnt need a pointer, but Edizion address is 10 digits long but to use it as a code the address is only 8 digits long, so how do i convert this for example when bookmarked i get 0X70AA30D2B8, how do i make this into an actual cheat code?

That's just part of the nuance of coding and why it takes skill and time. There's usually only 1 correct address to edit while the other results may be user interface display values, or other internal values related to it. But there is only 1 real address that holds the true internal value.

That is normal. After you have the address, create a code for it. The code system will be constantly writing to the address which freezes it.

NES games are very simple, so yes this should work with them. Make sure you are using an 8 bit search, since NES games are only 8 bit. This means numbers can only go up to 255, but for games that need to store a higher number than that, the memory layout could be strange.

You can find the charge time using the method of the invincibility frames in this video. You will be looking for a timer, it will either go up or it will go down, you will have to find that out

There's nothing risky about editing RAM, and yes that is a necessary part of refining the results. The worst thing that could happen is your game will crash. Nothing is permanent, once you resume into the game the addresses will immediately be re-overwritten by their recalculated values.

@@DarkFlare assuming that the ram you overwrote was not part of the ‘save game’ code, I guess so….. I would hate to corrupt a save, or crash while saving (which would probably corrupt the save). But then, I developed software for a living for almost 40 years. How well I remember trying to solve program crashes that corrupted all the evidence on their way out.
