But, guns are like cars and all kinds of other objects likely to be partially ego based. People tend to be irrationally devoted to the first one of anything, largely because the thought of admitting to a bad choice is abhorrent to everyone. When a person's first gun is a glock (or Brand X), they tend to immediately build shrines to it, whatever it is. Eventually they may get enough experience with a variety of guns to cause them to begin to doubt that devotion. But most people never own a lot of guns, so the glock continues to be worshiped, despite any contrary experience. If it weren't for movies, television and the evening news, glocks would definitely be far less popular. Case in point: The reason the Walther PPK is popular is entirely due to James Bond. It was always an inferior gun, but it is pretty, and must be good because... James Bond.

When it comes to guns,handguns especially, anything from Germany,Austria or Europe in general "has to be good." There's a company named Kahr which has a Germanic name but is actually Japanese. Beretta has always been a reliable brand. There's options. My favorite pistol is the .45cal military issue has been my favorite to shoot and it's American (Colt). I love the collectibles,too. Chrome finish,gold plated I love them!

As far as German guns go, I would love to own a Luger, but just like military issue 1911's they are way more expensive than what they're actually worth, given the quantity produced. On the other hand, can you put a price on reliability when it comes to a gun? In the end I guess it's like diamonds. De Beers holds on to 90% of the diamonds that come out of Africa so they can price the 10% that are on the market at a premium.

You’re correct on pencil and paper, not incorrect when you talk about it like that. BUT, a gunfight is never that simple, a million tiny variables can change the outcome; mainly in this regard is accuracy. Most of the best shooters have an average of a 50% accuracy rating which means it’s a coin flip that they hit EXACTLY the spot they were aiming for, however, these gun owners are a stark minority and most people on a good day at short range (15-70ft) have a 30-45% accuracy and it rapidly decreases beyond that in a calm serene environment such as the shooting range; so you can only imagine how difficult it is to hit an accurate shot in the midst of a firefight which you don’t expect. Finally I’d like to address how Hollywood has ruined the people’s idea of a gunfight starting with ammo: anything smaller than 45. Is probably not going to kill anyone instantly. If not passing clean through them the wound itself might do little to none internal damage, even on a headshot, an opponent might have just enough time to kill you before dying themselves. Anything bigger, or magnum variants, are going to leave an exit hole big enough to eject someone’s brain matter in most cases. And severely wound someone in most cases. The average 9mm is probably gonna need a whole magazine(10-20 bullets) to down(not kill) an opponent. So yes, I’m theory you only NEED 1, but in practice, it’s safer to mag-dump and live another day, which is why automatics would greatly decrease crime.
