The real winners in these situations The Gov and lawyers. Lmfao all these fees to the gov and we are still in debt (where on earth do these fees go)

As a Brit in the industry, your GAP and finance rules are quite lax compared to ours now. Quite interesting! Things like selling up above a representative rate, banned! We also have full commission disclosure at point of prop now too.

When I bought my S5 the dealer tried to charge me $1000 for ceramic coating that I didn't ask for or authorize. I made it clear I was prepared to walk out the door and drive 280 miles home over it.

This is pretty normal in florida... But so is registering and driving alcohol blown dragsters on the street.... You can plate anything. I remember seeing a new alfa quad advertised a few years ago for 15k off sticker... I inquired, it was basically this same type of situation but worse. It included 1500 rebate for being a college student, 1500 rebate for active military, and 1500 rebate for active medical professional.... How would that be possible? You're active national guard who is a nurse and taking nurse practitioner classes at the same time? I may have gotten those slightly wrong but my point is the advertised price included 3 parameters that nobody could be all at once

Not all. Most are, and many have ridiculous markups. There are some good products though - some warranties, PPF, ceramic coating, if done by the right installer.

Gotta love how dealers pass along ALL of their overhead to you in stupid fees that they ACTUALLY tell you about. 😂 I don't understand why they don't just factor all of that into the price. As long as you tell people there will be no fees, they'll be more willing to shop with you.
@switchcars15 күн бұрын
I think there’s a fair balance. Doc fees cover (in theory) real costs of the transaction itself, including those imposed by the government, similar to title company costs or closing fees on a house. What is reasonable? That’s open to interpretation, and up to the customer to decide if they’re willing to do business or not do business with a dealer on that basis.
@MrFixItGa14 күн бұрын
@switchcars Virtually every industry builds ALL of their overhead into their pricing model. It's a cheap "trick" that car dealers do in order to advertise a "low price" to their potential customers. Just add the actual fees you're going to charge to the advertised price. That's how honest people do business.
@switchcars14 күн бұрын
@@MrFixItGait’s a two way street. If customers didn’t negotiate all of the overhead out of a car deal, maybe dealers wouldn’t charge doc fees. And I can name a dozen industries off the top of my head that charge transactional fees on top of the price. Not to mention the entire service industry which expects customers to pay their employees in the form of tips
@MrFixItGa14 күн бұрын
@switchcars you definitely know more about the dealer world than I do, that's for sure. I just know it from a normal person's perspective. I've bought a few cars from dealers over the years. I have literally lost count on how many vehicles I've owned, but I've probably only bought about 5 or 6 from actual dealers. Only one salesman treated me decent and stayed in touch. I was one of the people who bought a car from the buy-here pay-here in Cleveland, Ga. whose owner went to prison for fraud and embezzlement. 🤣 It's a hassle going to most dealerships. It takes all day, even if you have your own financing. That's the thing that needs to change. IDGAF about what the price is compared to my time. That's way more valuable to me. If they could expedite that process, that would be great. Lol
@switchcars14 күн бұрын
@@MrFixItGa I agree with you on 98% of it. I just bought a car for my wife, and we had to do the "normal dealer" shopping, and if I didn't have industry contacts, it would have been miserable. There were some fantastic dealers, and some not fantastic ones, but it still took a LONG time. The industry needs to change.
