Not a problem. You need to get to your nearest auto parts place and ask for a Bosch type general purpose relay. Do a google on Bosch relay. It's a black square deal. AC Delco sells it, so everyone else. It doesn't have to be Bosch. It's just they invented this design. It is used throughout the alarm and car radio industry. Hope that helped...

Curtis, the old theory was Positive to Negative flow. Sometime in the middle of the 20th century it was understood that electrons flow Neg to Pos. Lighting goes from the ground up, even though it looks the other way around. I stick to the newer electron flow theory. The ground or earth has the excess electrons. Regardless of which theory you go by, it doesn't matter, only for the purposes of analyzing electric diagram. Thanks for posting.

Yes, LEDs have a very low current draw. The flasher will never even blink. LEDs, as you pointed out need an electric flasher.

Ok, those relays are called contactors, at least here in the states. They operate on AC and although somewhat similar I can't really comment on them. I do know that all these things you want to do can be achieved easier through a PC interface that controls all actuators, motors and sensor links. Makes sense?

@TOW4LESS1 Sorry for the delay, your e-mail got lost somehow. That's easy, use a Bosch style relay (any autoparts place) wire your alarm output to terminal 85, ter-86 to ground, ter-30 to your dome light and ter-87a to chassis ground. On some relays it may be ter-87. Look on top of the relay for a simple diagram. Good luck.

Just a Heads Up if this is an American Circuit or if Negitive is the Ground, Positive always flows to a Negitive Ground in the illistration you have the source entering the ground flowing to the positive unless the ground is Positive even then the flow is incorrect.

I have a vehicle with 2 relays wired to the electric fans with switches in my console (vehicle used to have fan clutch off water pump) My question is how can I make the relays turn on slowly or softly? when I flip the switches it almost kills my car if I am at a stop light. This is on a high performance car that I use as a daily driver and at low engine speeds the current draw is so much that it makes the car start to die and I just want some sort of mosfet or soft turn on without changing the relay/switch for a rheostat.

Mosfet is too complicated. All you need to do is put a 20 to 50 Ohm resistor in series with this circuit. That'll lower the current and not kill the motor.

hi there okay i want to be able to use a standard uk room thermostat to turn fan on when it gets a certain temp in the room. fan currently has its own 240v ac supply from wall socket the and is switched via normal uk outlet switch thermo has x4 connections on it . thanks for help
