Also you will need to have the lock in the unlocked position to access the allen screw. Size of allen wrench is 3/32.

Thank you. I replaced the door hardware a few years back. The door hardware is loose and I need to tighten it up. Lever has set screw and I don't remember what I did with the Allen wrench it came with. Oh I put it away somewhere special for when I will need it. I need it but forgot where that special place is at. I'm buying an Allen set on the way home and will make sure it has a 3/32.

Thank you!!! The directions didn't spell it out and I had never seen it done before. When you know, you know! Easy peasy ... I just did it.

Just to add to Christine Blake's comment... For the internal handle, the set screw is just inside the hole. For the external handle, the set screw is all the way through the center of the handle's axle, on the inside of the other side of the handle. So you'll insert almost an inch of the wrench inside that visible hole, to reach the actual set screw. Also, remember that you cannot reach that external handle's set screw if the door is locked!

Thanks for this. It was confusing that the interior has a visible set screw and the exterior didn't. Your video let me see that the set screw is on the opposite side of the hole on the exterior. Also the exterior set screw was very stuck so I had to push very hard on the allen key almost bending it to get it to move. Thanks again!

Thanks to your video me and my son replaced a broken latch on a door handle that had the screws hidden. Just needed an Allen wrench like you said in your video! Thanks!

Thank you for providing this time saving info. Kwikset instructions weren’t very clear.

3/32 allen wrench. Great. Thank you.

Thanks. We could not figure this out based on the minimal directions on the kwikset website. No directions included with lock. Ours was slightly different, only one side flips and the barrel fits through the locking mechanism in either direction.

I have a set of Kwikset handles, but they don't have that little hole for the allen screws.

This doesn't work for me when I flip the handles so you can close the door without the handles hitting the frame and keeping the door from closing you can no longer access the set screws to tighten the handles and the keep falling off when you close the door

I just bought a new kwikset lock, and i cant understand why the handles need to be switched like this. why cant they just sell the locks ready with them in the right place to begin with? genuine question! the diagram includes correct/incorrect handle orientations, and it comes the incorrect way. just a weird thought to me. thank you for this video because now it makes sense

I'm guessing they figured we just weren't having enough fun & frolic with simply changing out a lockset?!

Depends if you are putting it on right hand or left hand door. It comes the correct way for a door that swings opposite of yours, Saves inventory, one size fits all.

I can clearly see in the video that the handles are still facing the same direction in relation to the door jam. You flipped the handles so they bend up or down a different direction but the orientation to the door remained the same. There is NO access to the allen screws on this set if you swap orientation because the part the half-moon goes into is set and it cannot be changed. Somehow you have to switch the 'half-moon' 180 degrees for it to actually switch from right to left. No videos showing how to do that.
