Excellent video. Felt like a family trip to Tractor Supply. Heard the familiar chimes of the Ford truck as Kyle cranked it . This was so helpful. I love that you study & research things such as your horse feed. I have started one of my cats on a supplement containing slippery elm (thanks to you). I am sold on this unbeetable complete feed (thanks to you). A small group of us in this area are fostering horses from the Helene disaster while their owners are trying to recover. We have 6 foster homes with 14 horses. I have 2 horses at my place. Will get this approved by owners & vets & think we will go to this feed. Loved your little dance down the barn hallway. Great to see Kyle, your dad, Penelope & Koa. 😊 L

Love FSE and The Clever Cowgirl. Both women are great examples of how to maintain, train, and feed their horses. Their dedication to their horses is an example of how much time, emotional and financial expense goes into properly caring for them. I also like your logic regarding water mixing to avoid chokes. My former mare literally got a handful of "grain" when the others were fed in their stalls - just so she didn't feel left out. LOL. Most of the time they were all out, and in the winter were given hay 3-4 times a day, depending on temperature. She got a little calf manna in the winter and vit. e oil for her coat during the rainy season to keep her skin strong against rain rot. I LOVE the way you feed your horses appropriately!

I really enjoyed following your process of keeping your horses fed with the proper nutrition and keeping track of what each individual horse needs. I also loved your reasoning for why each horse is fed which type of feed. Besides wearing the title of amazing horsewoman, I think you probably need a certificate for being a top notch food and nutrition scientist also! Those pink buckets you have around the lots are absolutely my favorite color ... hot pink! I definitely appreciate how you bring colors into the barn and how you feed your horses too. Kyle is so sweet and your Dad is awesome too! Maybe Kyle needs to put a forklift on his list for Santa some year. My brother found one very cheap at an estate auction that just needed a motor tune up. He is a major car guy and has had a lifetime career of being a mechanic. I've even seen forklifts for sale on Facebook Marketplace! My brother has a very nice car, truck, and tractor shop on the farm, which it sounds like he may share in common with your sweet hubby. Oh ... and your new Big Red truck is beautiful!! Today as you loved on Koa and gave him a treat, my mind all of a sudden saw you as the Snow White of horses and pets ... and then you were dancing through the barn aisle ... instead of through the forest! Hi Shae. My wife and I watch all of your videos, at least once ! This comment is a little too late, but I got a laugh when Kyle said that he could handle the new truck....because he has driven a Cummins. We had a 2500 Cummins for several years to pull our RV. I was a GMC guy for years, but the Cummins is a great power house.... I wounder how the dually will handle the snow and ice. Some people I know would remove the outer wheels unless they were pulling a trailer.... Another thought about your water trough heaters. When I had horses in Minnesota, I liked the tank heaters that attached through the trough drain plugs and were supported on the trough bottom. The horses could not bite on the cords nor play with the floating heater. I would also build a wood topper for the trough to keep a lot of the heat in.... Keep on smiling ! - Steve

Oh my gosh, I can't believe you did this video today! I have been so worried about my overweight metabolic pony. She only gets 1 cup am and 1 cup pm, and I am so desperate to try and get some weight off I was thinking of stopping her 2 cups a day of grain to do everything I can. I dont want her to get laminitis. I was going to ask you today if you could tell me about the NSC of your new grain and if it was low carb with vitamins. I told my husband this morning I have got to get tyhat weight off yet I dont want to deny her needed vitamins. So I check your video and here you are discussing in depth your feeding program and your new grain!!! I couldn't believe it! You were kind enough to even show the vitamins and ingredients on the back of the bag!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Now I can compare it to the fortified low carb she is on and see which has less sugar. If you ever have any other tips for overweight metabolic senior horses please share. Shea you are so kind to be helping others with your videos and educating us all. Lastly, Kyle looked like a KING driving his new red truck!!! He looked so happy.
