It's funny how alot of people say their first medication didnt work, but their second did. no matter which way round it is, elvanse and then concerta, or concerta then elvanse, you dont read of many, elvanse switch to concerta then back to elvanse because the concerta didnt work. Always seems to be first didnt work, second is better

Thanks for taking the time to make these videos, you are a great help and inspiration. ADHD Medication helpful tips: Keep your blood pressure low! (this is so important, not many people discuss this). The most effective ADHD medications are stimulants, so it will raise your blood pressure, your psychiatrist will monitor your blood pressure, but YOU MUST regulate it too! low sugar, low salt, regular exercise, eat well (make sure you hit all the vits and mins, get calcium and potassium) , cut out coffee (caffeine, its a stimulant too), a magnesium supplement is helpful too (it relaxes artery walls, and it also makes you feel calm and less anxious). They say high blood pressure is a silent killer, well I can honestly say that I notice things are off in my body when my blood pressure is high. The main causes of high blood pressure are smoking, drinking alcohol and getting stressed, angry and upset ... so you are going to have to manage those too. Remember ADHD people, blood pressure, regulate it! ( foods that will help - dark chocolate, cheese, whole grains, low salt, low sugar, oranges ... well you know what is good, check out foods that will help keep your blood pressure lower, online) - keep warm, eat regularly, sleep well... all the usual ;)

I tried adderall at first. My doctor gave me 5mg for the first week. 2 hours after taking my first dose, I was stunned by the fact that my brain wasn't on overdrive. I suddenly became a lot more patient, focus , and legit more understanding towards my wife, friends and family. However, it made me so calm I could nap as many time as I want. I eventually switched to concerta as adderall was making too calm like I was constantly smoking weed. Concerta has vastly improved my social and motivation skills.

Your experience is very interesting. Do you still find Concerta works for you? I've done a lot of searching around and all the stories seem to be people who try Concerta, dislike it and then try Vyvanse or Adderall and find it much more effect (these are mainly adults btw) so it's interesting to finally see someone who tried both and found methylphenidate more effect. I just started Concerta (first ADHD med trial) and find I am a bit too mellow at times but I'm going to give it at least 3 weeks before I made any decision.

In case it helps: I used to take 30mg and was having comedowns with cold hands after 5 hours. Since i switched to 50mg instead, I don't get the cold hands anymore and the come-down is more manageable, more smooth. This is why correct dose is important. Sometimes little dose can mean incorrect dose, therefore more side-effects. Cheers

I take 30mg at 30years old. When I was young I took all kinds of adhd trials from patches, Adderall, vyvanse, etc.. I was all the way up to 70mg and abused it in a way. Each person has difference in tolerance, side effects, etc.. I know some people do 30mg vyvanse and during busy work days they take a booster like Ritalin. I have to take 3-5 days off vyvanse every 3 weeks to ensure I'm not dependant and such on it. And it has helped me a lot.

I'm very interested in switching to Vyvanse. I've been on concerta for almost a month and it's helped for sure but I've also noticed that it feels like my heart is beating uncomfortably fast. In a way that is distracting. I also feel like the concerta is "quick" when my body first starts processing it and it feels like I feel it peaks more intensely (not euphoric though, more like I feel like I'm running) so I'm interested to try the "smoother" feeling of vyvanse.

I use 30mg which is lowest dosage and it works great. I don't even notice I'm on it or feel any different in a way. However, I'm able to to focus on single task and not have a clustered mind. Only thing is you need to take it same time in mornings it last a long time. It can be hard to sleep for some people. However, caffeine is not good with vyvanse either it can really mess your heart rate(anxiety) and can cause sleeplessness.

About the feeling when elvanse starts to wear off: I kinda feel it's about how you get so positive boost from it and the mind works so smoothly and when it starts to wear off, the feeling starts to go bit blurry (since it's bit working that much anymire) but it still works and if you try to use your thoughts etc. The same way when it was clear, it can also make you bit dissociated, so it might be good idea to get some rest. Oh, and drink much more water and eat well. It is also very good idea to take some natural ingredients which contains 5-htp and that kind of stuff for couple of weeks BEFORE starting to use it since with low serotonin levels it might cause anxiety and if you use it for longer time, you might feel that something is off. Anyways this is my "just before going to sleep-pondering." Also, good video! I got an idea of searching videos with word "elvanse" and I chose this one.

Just want to clear up some info regarding the alza, Concerta and methylphenidate on general. Methylphenidate is methylphenidate regardless of drug, what varies between different drugs is the release mechanism. Alza uses the exact same patented OROS release mechanism as Concerta, and in fact my prescription that has Concerta written on the bottle in fact has alza written on the pills. As far as other brands go, there is no chemical difference between different methylphenidate prescriptions, but they may release differently which can drastically change their affect on the brain. Hope this helps! I just wouldn't want to see people switching from alza to Concerta expecting to see a difference when they are identical drugs.

My first intake of Concerta 27 mg at age 45. Passed an hour since I took the first pill, when I started to feel like I was queuing to get into a Rave concert ... that night like I was coming from the Rave concert plus two drinks and ten coffees... Here in Spain it is still very rare to get a diagnosis in adults, I got an appointment with a great adult specialist. She told me that in Spain Concerta is the first option by obligation (price factor, I am sure), in a month I will change to Elvanse, she said that it would be for me much better (I have a lot of anxiety). So I'll wait a month and talk about the change here. 🤗

@AMP Dama hi! I switched to elvanse nearly a month. The truth is only the first days of concerta I noticed that first high, next days it was unnoticeable. But as you said, I started to feel quite anxious so many times, first at the end of the day and days later a few hours from taking the pill, but my doc did not relate to concerta. I was noticing that maybe I needed more dose, and sometimes I took two pills instead of one and I started to feeling better. I don't know, maybe the body quickly gets used to the dose and creates some dependency. I had not realized it until I read your question, but with elvanse I do not notice any anxiety, so yes, it must have been a concerta cause related.

The downside to Vyvanse is it is so expensive depending on your insurance. It's criminal, lol. A generic should be available later this year (2023).

Vyvance here in the states does not have a generic, and it is very expensive with insurance covering only a small portion. I use 75mg Wellbutrin, (Bupropion), and 5 mg methylphenidate, both are immediate release, three times a day and 1mg guanfacine, (intuniv) extended release. Intuniv makes you sleepy so it helps you to relax so take it before bed, and it lowers your blood pressure which is good for me because the methylphenidate raised mineI start at the lowest dose 1mg. I have to keep all my medication at a minimum because of side effects. Glad you found something that reduces your side effects.

I think the difference between Xenidate and Concerta is the release mechanism, not the chemical structure. Concerta is an osmotic tablet meaning it uses water to push the medication out of the tablet. I can't find much on Xenidate but it's not an osmotic tablet.

Unfortunately, here in Netherlands, the pharmacist and health insurance decide which brand you get which is going to be a generic 100% of the time unless your doctor explicitly writes a statement that there is a medical need to prescribe the original brand (concerta in this case). This is done to keep health care affordable. So, I tried Mylan methylphenidate retard and wasn't impressed. Felt wired in the morning and undermedicated in the afternoon. Have not tried concerta.

I know I’m late to the party here, but I find the same “down in the dumps” feeling when Vyvanse wears off. The biggest win for me on Vyvanse as opposed to Ritalin or Adderall is that I don’t have any issues sleeping, at least not as a result of the meds. As a child sleep was impossible on Ritalin and Adderall. I initially started on 30mg then went up to 40 and just a couple days ago went up to 50mg. I noticed immediately after it kicked in the first day of the 30mg and then the first day of the 50mg that my brain was absolutely silent and I could focus much better, but then the next day I didn’t have that same experience. I could still focus (on the 50mg at least lol) but the constant internal monologue had come back (albeit not as “loud”). Is this something you have experienced too? I do have combined type not inattentive type so idk if that makes a difference.

For anyone that cannot take any kind of stimulant, including a non stimulant straterra. Prozac is an antidepressant that helps with co existing and existing problems with adhd and also has no negative affect on adhd so many clinics opt for Prozac because of that reason. Mostly all antidepressants aggravate and cause inconsistent changes so if you ever have to take the antidepressant route my two non stimulant would be brupopion or Prozac. I have reynauds phenomenon so I can’t take anything that constricts blood vessels, I am on a very hard path with adhd, depression, anxiety, along with reynauds phenomenon. So it’s not a good time but I research every day to help people that don’t know what is best for them or people that need help in general. Very grateful for this channel and hope this helps. I've always had a very high stimulant tollerance. Ritalin barely worked unless I was taking a pretty high dose and it was mostly side effects. Vyvanse has been the most stable for me although I also the short acting form as well. I take either 50 or 70mg of Vyvanse a day and upto 4 5mg dexamphetamine tablets throughout the day. I have a very good relationship with my psychiatrist which is why I'm allowed to mix and change my doses to manage tollerance and breaks. Most doctors won't give those 3 scripts, especially to someone who has prior history of stimulant abuse. My main side effect is a bit of sleep disruption if I don't time my doses right and perfuse sweating. The sweating is gross but I get that from other meds I'm on that I have no viable alternative to so I just deal with it. It's not so bad in summer but it sucks in winter.

Did you stick with the Vyvance? I’m here in 2024 at 50 years old with a new ADHD diagnosis (received a few months ago). Concerta has mostly ok for me at 36mg (only mild heart racing here and there) but 54mg was awful, made my heart race all day. It also makes me clench my jaw (I also have bruxism and a mouthguard at night), and it causes me low level but constant anxiousness. Added Intuniv at night at 1mg to take the edge off. After a week we upped the Intuniv to 2mg, but it wired me up all night (which seems opposite of its intention), so that was awful. I'm now back to 36mg Concerta and 1mg Intuniv. I’m thinking of trying Vyvance instead, which is how I found your video. My doc was open to trying it to see if it works better for me, and he has one other patient who switched from Concerta and totally preferred Vyvanse (said it was "life-changing" for that person). How has it been (or how was it) for you?

I'm currently on Ritalin and Focalin (Dexmethylphenidat). I've switched therapists now and the new therapist said he'll probably prescribe me Evanse (German name for Vyvanse). But he has to diagnose me properly first (my last therapist only went by things I said and my history). I got a last "load" of my old meds today to carry me over until then. I'm looking for work right now and would hate to have to start a new job with no medical treatment for my ADD... The new shrink won't give me Ritalin because he says the potential for abuse is too high and the "peak" and "come down" are too extreme. He won't give me Focalin because apparently it's only prescribed to kids :-D I just hope that the "come down" and "peak" of Evanse isn't as bad as with Ritalin. It feels really "aggressive" at the "peak" and when I "come down" from it I feel like my ADD is way worse. Also, I get really tired if I spread it out all day. I worked a job where I would be at the work place 12 hours a day (with a 1.5 lunch break, but I lived too far away to get home in between) and still have to do mentally challenging work (at least for me) at the end of it. I felt totally drained afterwards.

Interesting. I started from Elvanse (Lisdexamfetamine) 3 weeks ago first and I liked it because it helped me do thing I couldn't focus on before, but the come-down was horrible and made me suesidle, sleepy in the afternoons and very anxious and irritable. Conserta is more stable for me at the moment but it's only been few days on 18mgs. But it also makes me a bit melancholic and depressive, And really sleepless nights.

Capsules are quick release while hard packed pills take longer to digest. I think! That’s my guess anyway. Thanks for your channel... my husband was diagnosed this year, he’s 40, and knowing he has adhd and getting on meds has made life much, much better. Your channel was one of the first steps to us understanding what’s been going on.

I take 70mg and I stopped having the crash by the end of the day, but on 30mg I had crashes and I felt really angry for no reason, so weird.

Hey, thank you so much for your videos. I was resently diagnosed with add and have tried ritalin that makes me quite sick and now vyvanse of aduvanz which is the same. I am now up to 50 mg vyvanse and I have very good effects, much easier to start tasks and fulfill, but I cannot consentrate still. I was wondering at what dose did you notise being concentrated? Because there is a possibility for me that the lack of concentration is due to trauma complex ptsd and we are still trying to figure out which it is. Should I have had difference in concentration by 50 mg? Thank you in advance!

Really appreciate you making these videos. So helpful to hear a level headed normal guy in the same position as me. I've been on concerta a month and was feeling anxious and had some jaw clenching. Another two weeks and I have to option to try Lisdexamphetamine so definitely going to take this video into consideration

Generic methylphenidate didn't work for me but Concerta XL did. To a point. Swapped to Elvanse and it's made me a lot more productive, focused and alert. Swings and roundabouts. 💪

Hey! I've just been switched from concerta to elvanse, it worked for me too. To a point but gives me anxiety and jitters, it does help focus and things but I cant tolerate the dosage I need. Did you find elvanse helped? With this

i'm hoping to be able to switch to Xenidate or elvanse from concerta because my anxiety and feelings of tenseness are making it pretty uncomfortable to take for me

for some reason those medications are prohibited in Some countries, Quit harsh. Jordan, gulf council countries, you can go to jail in Japan if they found it on you ... pretty strange world Luckly I got the prescription for Vyvanse in Canada, I can say that I am more focused, alert, sometimes happier on it and generally more energetic.though i don't take the pill daily, generally when I know am about to have a long day ( work or social wise) I haven't got the chance to try the other brands you talking about, but it feels to me the Vyvanse is top in the market with the lease side effects.

I've taken elvanse for about 2 years, worked great in the beginning but now i can't take them because i get so calm that i'm almost "autistic", i can't really speak to people when i'm on it. I've tried to cycle it/be of it for some time but unfortunately that doesn't help. I hope this works well for you❤

@@ayjie6829 the doctors in Sweden doesn't seem too keen to help with moda for adhd. I've ordered it 2 times (this time i'm using "express EU shipping", been waiting 4 weeks so far), i'll try it and then try to convince the doctors after my experience. Thank you for the input❤

I use Elvanse since 3 months now, even on the weekend and between 40 and 50 mg. Before that I used Concerta for 9 months but I prefer Elvanse over Concerta.
