@friscobob563 жыл бұрын
myguess is that they are former Alaska RR units. And if I'm not mistaken (which I easily could be), these were also repainted into VTR red.

Vermont Railway was created by the State of Vermont to take over when the Rutland Railroad went belly up as the result of a strike. It started operations in 1964.

I enjoyed watching this video. The railroad thru my town just reopened last March but now there is talk of it closing for good. They're not doing any maintenance on the line so if a bridge has problems, that would do it. Anyway, nice video again as always!

I always wondered why you see the second engine travelling backwards. I never realized that it was for hook ups when switching trains and trucks or cars. Am I correct? I agree, Bennington station is quite a site. Thanks for posting.
@barese4206 жыл бұрын
Yes you are Dan you are right the first train comes in they switch the tracks it goes to the right the other train comes in on hooks other train comes up hooks on and off it goes
@karknocker16306 жыл бұрын
The second engine is is usually backwards so the engines do not need to be turned for the return trip. Nothing to due with the coupling. Usually the engineer remains in the lead unit and the brakeman or conductor on the ground guides the engineer through the coupling. Hard hits aren't always the engineers fault!

GRS, Guilford Rail Systems/PAR-PAS, Pan Am Railways-Pan Am Southern were made up of 4 northeastern regional railroads, B&M/Boston and Maine, MEC/Maine Central, ST/Springfield Terminal and the D&H/Delaware and Hudson. Guilford originally sold off the trackage rights on the D&H routes but it is my understanding that through an agreement with NS/Norfolk Southern, they share trackage rights through the "Patriot Corridor", formerly D&H track.

@bkriegel957 жыл бұрын
CanadianRailfanner12 They actually are not SD70ACes though. They are SD70M-2s. There are no noticable differences between the two locomotive models except that the ACes have vents on the equipment box, the M-2s don't.

@@donpollard9460 I don't know what a monopod is but anything you send would be great for the videos and I thank you very much, here is the address: Joe Barese Redeemed Repair, Inc. 4718 Route 67 North Hoosick New York 12133

@@barese420 No worries, a monopod has only one leg, (hence mono). They are great for a compact photo/video shoot - either way, they don't need to be expensive - I use sub $AU 100 units, and they both work very well. I'll have a look around and see what I can do. I have a Panasonic HD video, as well as my Galaxy S8 cell phone, and a Panasonic SD video camera. Good luck with your videos, they seem OK, apart from the shakiness.

Why change engines?
@barese4207 жыл бұрын
It depends on how long they've been running if they come in from Rutland they switch engines so the other guys can take it to New York
@tomok82836 жыл бұрын
Dale Pelot Back in the day this is where the Boston&Maine railroad would do interchange with the Vermont railroad! Then Guilford and now Pan Am does the honours! This goes way back! Back in 1984 my parents and I took a trip to Bennington. But we weren't there on the right day. But I did get some excellent photos of the station! And that alone was worth the trip!
