Got it. Love it. Just got the Switchpod Ball Head...sweet!!! I'm trying to downsize for vlogging from the boat, so going to a mirrorless camera and adding this baby means I can carry everything I need (including extra lenses, my 2011 17" MacBook Pro, a Zoom H4N and a RE50 mic) in my backpack. Three thumbs up!!!

I like mine but it definitely needs stronger magnets and some added grip material where your hands go may in version 2

Everyone sets out to build a better mousetrap. Switchpod has done that. And I just learned about those awesome quarter 20 screws in the legs. You've thought of just about everything! And, while not the cheapest tripod on the planet, it's certainly worth it. One-and-done kit buy. Feels virtually indestructible. And knowing I could (but probably ever won't) put around 100lbs/45kg on it means I can.... not worry if I need a mic or a monitor or.. a light. Almost makes me want to branch into vlogging just by having it!

Mine just arrived today. Looks great. A ball head is going to be mandatory for most of us who will use it more as a tripod than a handle. One negative is that you are definitely going to hear the legs "clank" out and "clank" in. I wish there was some padding to reduce the noise. ETA: I just swapped on the head from my Gorillapod and it works great!

Though I feel like $99 is a little high.... I haven’t ever actually had one in my hand. Should have it by tomorrow haha. I carry a lot of gear and this is really the only small tripod that will most likely support my zeapon micro 2 slider and do double duty across both photo and video. I’m just tired of carrying a full size tripod just for the stability.., don’t get me started on all the issues I had with gorillapod. If I like this, there will most likely be a review and I already have some ideas about using the extra 1/4 20 mounts. Pretty excited.

First, I am buying the switchpod. Second, while I have other ball heads I shall buy yours. I watched one video where the photographer said he had trouble keeping the legs closed because the magnets were not strong enough. He bought small button magnets at the hardware store and superglued them to the inside / bottom of each leg and that worked. Was that a problem that cropped up more that you are aware of?

We tried a bunch of different strengths for the magnets when were developing SwitchPod. We wanted it to be subtle to keep them closed, but enable you to also easily open it. In the end we settled on a magnet strength that gravity would be stronger than, so the legs would open like you showed in your video versus magnets that are so strong that it is hard to open the 3 legs. It was a tough choice! Believe me!

I am going to love the switchpod. I am struggling with how to attach both my new Canon Mark III with my new RODEVIDEOPRO Shotgun mic to the tripod. Any ideas? Thanks.

I wonder if I should return the shotgun mic and get the new rode wireless go. that would fix my problem I think. I put a longer thread and switchplate on it, but it was swiveling and wouldn't lock in place (the plate) So if you can link any particular products or picture with the set up of the new Canon Mark III and Shotgun mic, that would be awesome.

Awesome. Which ball head would you recommend? Considering versatility, balance and compactness. Is it a Manfrotto on the right? With panning feature? Can't wait to get my hands on my two Switchpods.

I like the Manfrotto BeFree one a lot. What is nice about the Joby one though is that the quick release plates match up with the Peak Design capture clip system. Either of those are great options.

@@CalebWojcik I see a number of Joby 5K ball heads on B&H's website (supports 2.2 lbs to 11lbs) . Is this the model compatible with the Peak Design clip? Thanks!

I bought the Joby 5K ballhead with my Switchpod but I can't get it to screw onto to the top of the Switchpod. It seems like the screw is either not long enough or right size. Any insights?

You just need to use a 1/4"-20 to 3/8" adapter.
