Boom Boom and Lakitu are most probably the hosts of the minigame modes, just like on Mount Minigames on Superstars Bowser Jr was the host for the survival mode and Lakitu was the host for coin battle

It one if the shots we see players playing as shy guys, but they are all different colours, so I think for koopa's, yoshi's, shy guy's, and toads you can change colours

lakitu, boom boom and the other characters in the minigame island area do seem to be NPCs, i bet they are like "guides" for each of the game modes that you access through the colorful gates they are standing by. In mario party superstars, mt. minigames is an area that looks almost exactly like this where you can play game modes hosted by lakitu, kamek, a red koopa paratroopa and bowser jr. so the characters by the gates in the trailer probably serve the same purpose. also, i think the large boat that immedeately leaves is the vehicle you use to play the game mode of the yellow gate, and the boats that the toads and shy guys are driving around in are probably the vehicles for the orange gate since they have the four player colors.

I'm just curious if they're more characters that we're not seeing; hopefully they are hidden and unlockable I'd love to see Hammer Bro, Dry Bones and Diddy Kong return, and maybe even Pauline would be a nice new addition to the list too! Personally I'd also like to see Metal Mario since he's Mario's rival and I wanna see him appear in a different game but I doubt he will but eh oh well; hopefully this game does impress, I can't wait to play it and see what it has to offer!

I personally would like to see Dry Bones return as well. He was always my biggest go-to in 8, and it would be a bit of a bummer to see him taken out of the roster for this game. Especially since they seem to be bringing most of the other enemy characters from previous entries back. He's all I really need.

That goomba board looks like an island hopping board. I don’t think you get alternate paths during a tide I think you are just stuck on an island

@@Beenman2210 You can see zip lines and bridges linking islands that obviously wouldn’t be flooded by the tide, so it seems more like it will just function like horror land by blocking some paths off at a specific time but still allowing almost full exploration of the board.

I think Boom Boom and Lakitu are simply NPCs who will be stationed at each dock with something like "Join Lakitu for some hectic 1v3 action minigames". It'd be strange to separate players on the screen like that

I’m guessing it’s going to do a similar thing to the earlier games where Bowser’s board isn’t available until you’ve played a round on each of the other boards, which is why we see it under construction.

The shot of Mario and Luigi flying with Peach made me think of Crazy Taxi. There's a time limit, and arrow pointing somewhere else, and you're clearly carrying an NPC.

11:14 It probably will be exactly that because mario party star rush on 3ds had almost exactly same mode. Each player was playing coin collecting minigame at the same time and each coin would move your character one space but you were also filling out the gauge for an item and when you filled it out an item appeared during minigame and when you collected it you could use it to send it as attack to other player that could stun him or hurt his progress in some way.

Ngl I think boom boom and lakitu are probably just npc’s you can talk to, and they probably recommend modes or something along those lines. If lakitu WAS playable, I feel like he wouldn’t be in his cloud, as in Mario kart he’s just by himself. Also, if one of the unlockable characters in the game is just a red koopa that would kinda suck lmao

So, Coinathlon from Star Rush enjoyer here, that mini game where everyone is running from Bowser is 100 percent a Koopathlon mini game. For those who don’t know, in Coinathlon, you played mini games to get coins and each coin advanced you one space. And periodically, Bowser could interfere with mini games where you have to avoid being knocked out by him or you would get sent back some spaces in the race. Also, the block you see in the mini games does indeed look like the item mechanic from that mode, where you collect enough coins and either get a coin gathering item to increase how many coins you can get (ranging from just a simple 3 coins to a double coin multiplier) or items to stall opponents. And for the one mystery building next to the cooking rhythm game building, maybe that’s where you play the 8 player mini game where everyone is on skis and are racing Wiggler? Perhaps part of a co-op mini game mode like with the game where everyone rearranges panels or water enemies? Also, I do think the NPCs on that island are Boom Boom and Lakitu, but not “just cause it is.” That is some logic that gives me a giggle, admittedly. Like, it does look like them, but because you can make out defining characteristics. But the presumable red shell Koopa is probably just because we can see some characters that are playable recycled as background characters, some using alternate colors. Like we see some different colors of Shy Guys and also different Toads and even just some Goombas and the one Yoshi mini game and hopefully Bloopers? Blooper’s just a silly little squid, I wanna play as them again. And speaking of, I do think we have a few unannounced player characters. I mean, I’m expecting them to have a similarly sized roster evenly split between Bowser minions and Mario’s usual party crew. And to that end, I don’t see them having all Mario’s friends available from the start, so I’m predicting a few unlockable characters like Pauline and Diddy Kong, and the likes of Blooper, Boom Boom, Pom Pom and Hammer Bro in the game. Overall, though, this game looks super exciting. The board design feels like it’s following in the footsteps of the originals, even down to each board having something unique mechanically to it like the GameCube era especially. I’m very happy NDCube seems to be learning from past mistakes, as someone who did like Super Mario Party for what it’s worth. I did feel the game suffered from quantity over quality, but still felt the game was largely a good step forward. Also, Coinathlon was my favorite part of Star Rush, so hyped for that returning.

Notice that the Koopathlon mode looks exactly like the Coinathlon mode from Star Rush, the only clear difference being it's now 20 players instead of just 4. Also there were Bowser minigames in the Coinathlon, so it's pretty clear the Bowser minigame that we see with 20 players is definitely part of the Koopathlon

In super mario party i didint realy like that cus then i woulnt choose charcters i like but characters who have the best special dice block. Hard to tell if thats in the new game but im hoping its not.

i believe the giant bowser thing is part of koopathlon, some of it is those real time minigames with coins and sometimes you have giant bowser encounters including that boss with the cannon and the people who do best get more spaces on the map. both things are 20 players so already have a connection there and would make sense why it's called "koopathlon", because the real main enemy is a giant king koopa

if there’s 12 characters on the “good” side, but only 8 on the “bad” side, my guess is that there will at least be four unlockable “bad” characters! ninji, boom boom, lakitu, and someone else. there was symmetry with the characters on each side in super mario party, so i doubt they wouldnt carry that to this game.

I'm so glad that Pro Controllers are supported and that Joycons are optional. That was my biggest problem with Super Mario Party, which only allowed you to have Joycons. That makes replaying that game a bit of a hassle given my joycons are not working. So I'm happy for this change.

I love Boom Boom so much and he would make a great addition in Mario Party. Im just annoyed that they didn’t have him in Super Mario Party along side Pom Pom, probably replaced with Hammer Bro. DK and Diddy were the unlockable characters of that game, and they paired well, so idk why they paired Pom Pom with a Dry Bones as the unlockable Villains ☹️

16:35 something I noticed is they is a stamp board on the right like you see in some anime and on some travel stuff and if looks like one stamp is already on the board and there are 4 total and it looks like you can just do it as you walk my indicated by the diamond instead of a space curious how this will work and just wanted to get that out there since I have not seen anyone talk about it yet.

Would be nice to see a board based on one of the many mario rpg games... instead it's always the mainline series. Even with the mainline series it likes to pretend Wart doesn't exist. They should shove Mario Land 1's Tatanga in a space board. A wario land board with the Black Sugar Pirates... Nope, just gotta be the same things we've seen again and again and again. Mario is such a creatively stagnant franchise. What once seemed like a company of creative geniuses are now a corporate soulless shell of its former self, if any of them tried to think of a new character or a new villain other than bowser in the mainline mario games they would physically injure themselves.

Mario tenis had many flaws but the Characters were top. I wish we had lumas as playable characters in Mario party. And it's weird how toad is sometimes playable and sometimes not
