I'm so glad they updated the remasters instead of abandoning them. With that said, there's still room for improvement. Some of the physics and AI for NPCs still remain janky, a lot of the dialogue in San Andreas is missing, the radio stations are still buggy, ambulances still don't show up to revive pedestrians (or at least don't appear as often as they should) in Vice City or San Andreas, the character models themselves still look like crap even if they are better rigged, there are no distant blinking lights in the night sky (the ones that everyone says are UFOs), and the environment still takes time to load from being low-poly mush when you drive too fast. So let's hope there are still more patches on the way.

Setting the camera to be further away from the car sometimes mitigates it. I THINK it’s a way of avoiding screen tearing but I don’t know for sure.

The only thing I hate about the remaster is that they removed over 31 songs from the radio stations. The music is what made those game so good if you ask me.

I agree. Rockstar probably has enough money to renew the licenses, so I can only guess either they're lazy and/or the music industry is a pain in the ass when it comes to licensing and not worth the effort. Still, at least we got these games on the Switch at all. GTA Vice City Stories hasn't even been released on any platforms besides PS2 and PSP because Phil Collins is in the game and had an entire subplot (one that was required to play through in order to progress through the story) dedicated to him.

I hope they fixed the map issues too. On San Andreas, the underground car park at the San Fierro police station was completely broken as there was an invisible wall in place where the ramp is. And there's a tunnel when you cross over the big red bridge heading north that was missing textures on the ceiling when you enter it.

Like, the old games had the traffic working properly, in this trilogy they would spawn near you and despawn as soon as you turned the camera, hopefully they have fixed it.

Intro was epic. Really interesting coverage. I still have the games on PS2, XBOX, PSP, and PC. I'm wondering if playing the OGs with an upscaler would be the best bet. Especially with all the cut tunes. I'm pretty sure the PC ones are still broke. Still, the lighting and 720p handheld on the OLED does look lovely. The Switch OLED is one of the best screens I've ever used. Oh, it's £50 for a 20 year old reissue?!?! Maybe wait for a sale 😂

The PC version can be the best if you mod it. SilentPatch, Widescreen Fix & SkyGFX are 3 mods you should install to at least get it up to par to the PS2 version. You should check out TJGM tutorial videos to get started. For GTA3 specifically, there's an upcoming mod called LC'01 that would get it on par with LCS (the prequel game) mainly but also the other 3D universe GTAs, in terms of features, visuals and lore.

I only played San Andreas so I didn't experience many bugs, if at all however I'm glad to see an update and maybe jump into the other two games as well. Hopefully its better 🤞. I'm conflicted on this. On the one hand, Rockstar made changes that Grove Street Games could've easily done themselves, but for some reason, they just didn't. But on the other hand, erasing their name from the entire game to save face is just insulting. Regardless of whether Grove Street was a bad developer or not.

I never brought this game for two reasons. The first reason was that all 3 games were not on the physical Switch vart and as a bit of a collector that put me off, then after seeing all the performance issues I was just put right off. These updates are very promising but again just sucks that it did not release in this state with all 3 games on the cart

I find this very strange. I have worked for a games publisher with its own development studios for a long time and you're given guidelines on how big your patch has to be and you're not allowed to submit an infinite number oft patches. I think that is good in principle, because Nintendo wants to pay attention to the technical quality so that virtually no unfinished games are released on the Switch. But when I look at the industry, I realize that there are two different measures being used here. Some are allowed to release more and, above all, larger patches, while others are bound by the restrictions

Currently i have an afterglow controller as a "pro controller" alternative, because of the two programmable buttons (i just hate clicking the analog sticks for sprinting or other things), but unfortunately no third party controller is allowed to use HD Rumble. I really do love the Joy Con, even with the problems they have, but i'm still looking for this to improve handheld gaming for me, because currently i'm using my Switch entirely in a tablet holder.
