Where did you buy your training sword?

The basket, you can get from a number of different places that make armor. The course anywhere from $50 to $100 and protect the hand. The blade is from Rattan wood. I cut that down and shave it to have an edge and a grip. Then tape it over. We hit at full power and full speed, so I usually get 4 to 6 months out of the wood. The steel basket I have had for 17 years. Sometimes one of the welds or bars will break and I have to reweld. If you get to an SCA or EMP practice people will help you Source the material and armor that you need.

@@tsafa What length do you usually cut your rattan?

I'll have to measure it out tomorrow. I seem to have forgotten. I think it's somewhere around 35 inches. What I usually do is take the old stick and go 1 inch longer. I complete the sword. Then I'll usually cut back a half inch to 2 inches, in order to achieve the balance and sword speed that I want. So the exact length is a variable that a lot of times changes depending on density variations of the wood. When I make a new sword, I'll bring a small battery powered circular saw with me to the practice and cut it back half an inch if I see that the sword is sluggish.
The longsword duel from THE KING is on point.
