Fridge Logic: The guy who keeps screaming "WHAT?!" isn't actually stupid. He's just actually hard of hearing. And since the guy never REPEATS WHAT HE JUST SAID, he still doesn't get it the second time either, until he shows a picture.

Thing is, Yogapants actually HAS a good reason for entangling Kirito in her web of lies. Kirito was running around reminding people that the town was a safe zone and nobody could actually die. And he has the credibility and murderhobotude to prove it to people, violently if necessary. So for this plan to work, Yogapants actually did have to jump in and sell the part. "My name isn't YOGAPANTS!" It is after _those_ camera angles. Damn that's a nice ass.

That’s a really good point! My theory has always been that since Yoko and the guy who “died” entered town together, people would have seen them talking. It would have been unusual for someone who had been talking to a murder victim recently to NOT talk to people looking into the crime. Once Kirito and Asuna started asking around, people likely would have said something like “He was talking to a girl with purple hair. Hasn’t she already talked to you?” I like your idea more, though!

Talking about the end of Kayaba and Kirito's fight, the original anime showed it poorly enough that it isn't obvious if you didn't read the light novel, but Kirito's last attack is in the window between his health hitting 0 and his character shattering and deleting. The revive item dropped by Nicholas the Renegade in the Sacchi episode was supposed to be used in that 10 second window, which is why it wasn't useful to Kirito who wanted to revive Sacchi who died days or weeks earlier. I can't remember if Asuna survived because she was still in that same 10 second window, if her character shattered but the system didn't fry her yet, or if Kayaba had her flagged for the system not to kill until his duel with Kirito was over.

I've only read about half of the first one so far since the computer I had them on died, but it went into a fair amount more detail on how the game worked than the anime did. You can certainly still tell the Reki Kawahara is no game designer, but some things that seemed like horrible plot holes in the anime are just kinda like, "no, that's an explained game mechanic, the anime just thought it didn't translate well" For example, I don't know yet if they give it more focus than the anime did, but it was _super_ easy to miss in the anime that the reason Kirito was able to pick up Asuna's Lambent Light for the final attack on Heathcliff is because they were _married_ so it was part of his inventory. Which explains why it was important to spend so much time on the "murder in a safe zone" arc that otherwise seems like filler, because it establishes a game mechanic that becomes important later. Honestly, I've found that if you look at one of those rant videos about how bad SAO is you'll find about 25% of complaints are appropriately addressed in the anime and they either didn't notice or were purposely ignoring it and like 40-50% are appropriately addressed in the light novels but either didn't translate well to a visual medium or were cut for time. It's no masterpiece, but it's certainly _decent._

@@RikkuEcRud the way i like to see sao is that there are nuggets of good fiction and writing in it but reki was not a very confident writer and the abridged just shines light on the good stuff while cracking jokes at or rewriting the bad stuff to highlight the good stuff like it clearly comes from a place of adoration and a want to show people that the property is genuinely fun but does have its faults

So I thought I would explain in more detail for anyone who is interested. The company that owns the footage for Sword Art Online is obviously a Japanese Company and they not only don't really have fair use in Japan, Some companies actively go after people using the footage even if it's for abridged series. In the case of Something Witty Entertainment's abridged series it's a transformative piece of work but they themselves (Something Witty Entertainment) have been striked and so on and so forth by the Owners of the footage and have had to argue through KZbin's appeal system and possibly legal channels to continue to produce their content. I reacted to this series way back in 2017 on my original channel which was at the time of termination literally 9,999 subs (I was one sub away from 10k 😢), I was striked and terminated because of copyright strikes by TOEI animations and the owners of Sword Art Online. I eventually from YEARS of working it out with KZbin got my channel back and reinstated and so here we are lol.

neat idea, but the golden rule is to end the joke at the funniest point. Your proposal gives an early peak followed by a small laugh, followed by an awkward sex joke. In other words it's backwards
