Nice Sword to cut with it, for sure, nothing I would ever purchase, but I know Many would love. and enjoy...Good job being respectful to the Maker even though so much of it is foolish, but the lock into place of the Blade into the saya was very cool

Thanks Joe-I agree in that if I was browsing a sites offerings for a purchase, this isn’t one I would consider with its non traditional construction. I am going to give it a fair crack at how the manufacturer intended it though and if it works-well-I can’t say much then! And if it doesn’t then we will all know. Taste is a difficult thing to blanket and as the saying goes “The Customer is always right in matters of taste” so I have to imagine they were confident enough the design would sell to produce it. Sometimes it’s easy to see a vendor and their offerings through our lens and forget most of these guys ship worldwide. I have ZERO idea what sword trends are like in Malta for example lol.

@@StudioGDT The situation is, not many care about traditional builds, anime and fantasy items are much more popular these days, which is not bad as it brings more attention to the swordcraft hobby and keeps it strong

@@JoeSteel1 I agree with you 100%. You have to imagine if not maybe indirectly, how much the rise in Cosplay popularity has increased the success of sword adjacent. I’ll never knock it because comparatively we are probably a much small chunk of profits so without all the anime and fantasy offerings, who knows where we would be?

Well done review, not sure about this though. The lanyard definitely has to go, as far as the kissaki goes, it's nicely done, the only draw back to it is, it's really only good for stabbing, not slicing. Magnesium steel isn't a bad steel either, it's great for wear resistant, some have given it a bad rep, but if done right, like any steel, it will perform just fine.

@@gargoylesblade healthy discussion is always good and welcome! Technically the Monouchi does not include the Kissaki as it stops at the yokote, the Kissaki regardless of shape, is always the weakest part of the sword (under normal usage circumstances anyway) andI don’t think when using the monouchi correctly in cuts that Kamasu Kissaki is any less effective than say Ko-Kissaki or Ikubi-Kissaki as there should be minimal involvement in a properly placed cut. This is all theoretical armchair talk of course and I look forward to the cutting portion of the review in comparison with other swords. The Manganese, is actually a perfect choice for a sword of the purpose (or Spring even) my comment was more direct toward the lack of aesthetics in it and if it were made of a more traditional steel type it might look pretty cool!

@StudioGDT totally agree, it definitely lacks on the over all look,do really like the tsuba though. I think if it wasn't for that I think it would be a total disaster, but it in a way brings it together. For someone's first sword I can see it working.

They've addressed rattling habaki by simply getting rid of it. They've addressed unraveling ito due to the kashira coming loose, by omitting that component as well. They are providing a "modern katana" offering at a rock bottom price point, which is better than what Dragon King did. We just have to wait to see how it performs I guess....

Cool budget beater. Have you cut with it yet?

No sir. Haven’t started filming phase 3 videos yet…the fact it’s 106 out with no cloud cover is contributing to my lack of urgency lol.

@@StudioGDT Well good thing for air conditioning in that case. Once you start cutting it's hard to do anything else.
