Your right. The tsuba needs to be traded out. Too bad it doesn't breakdown to upgrade it. And congrats on winning the test blade. Yay you!

I thought the same thing, I'd gladly get another tsuba if this sword came apart. The tsuba alone makes me not want to keep the sword permanently haha.

@@JuardianKit’s so ugly I would Dremel it out to make your own design. Nothing you do would be worse

Not to bad, don't know about the ring on the end of it,especially the lanyard. Definitely that tsuba has to go though, it just doesn't work.

I want the white one because it has a regular tsuba

Overall, looks good for that price, minus the cringy guard. For me that would be a deal-breaker, but I suspect that with enough feedback they'll replace it with somebody (anything...) better.

Nice score. Interesting sword. More like a han dao style sword. If you get some spare cash, check out the Dragon King Modern series. They have a katana, wakizashi, and tanto. I'm not a fan of the tacticool style katana like the honshu, atrim, hanwei tactical, etc, but this one keeps the traditional stuff you want (a DH1566 hirazukuri blade, proper tsuba, nice copper habaki and seppa), with a modern touch (g10 "tsuka", paracord "sageo", thin carbon fiber saya) that when combined, make for the perfect trick cutting katana. Liked the katana so much i got the waki and tanto too. Going to have my girl do up the tsuka with a gutted paracord tsukamaki. Once that's done, they're gonna be as close to the perfect sub $500 trick cutters ever made.

Funny you mentioned those, I have been looking at the modern katana series for a while and I really like the look of them. I plan to get the katana and wakizashi some day.

@@JuardianK I and several others can vouch for their quality. The katana I got has a 2.5" P.O.B. handles like a feather. Once the gutted paracord taukamaki is done, they're gonna be perfect.

Gosh, assuming you've been sharpening it this whole time, the poor sword is probably a fillet knife at this point. I think it's sharp enough for the second part of your review now.
