Thank you so much for the kind words!! Yes i just want to create the kind of video that i would have liked to paint along with. I'm trying to make it a bit visually appealing with the photos and make it a bit more cinematic, as well as trying to be as informative as possible to help people. Hopefully that all comes across nicely in the videos. Glad to hear, what would be your hobbit vote on the next video to be?

Another amazing tutorial, especially the way you use the makeup brush on the robes. To answer your question: Gandalf the Grey is my favourite, he seems more like a mentor to me than Gandalf the White. Will you do tutorials on other armies in the future as well? I would love to see you paint Rivendel Elves so much!
@SwordsandBrushes2 жыл бұрын
Why thank you very much kind Barrow Wight, it's just a fun technique that I like to use - kind of like a "Damp" drybrush. But it gets the job done and hope that it can help others too :) I agree! Gandalf the grey mentor :) And for the question about other armies... SPOILER ALERT... 100% YES! :P

Nicely Done! I've had the Mines of Moria set still in it's original packaging and unattached since probably 2011, and finally got around to thinking about getting it altogether and painted. These tutorials are amazing. I found your Mines of Moria scenery tutorial as that is what I was going to start with first. Can't wait to get to Gandalf. Look forward to your other tutorials on this set!

Oh amazing you don’t see them come up often on eBay in pristine condition. I was lucky enough to get a copy towards the back end of last year and then a week later Balins tomb was announced! - obviously I got that too :) Thank you very much for the kind words, I’m happy that these tutorials can help out fellow hobbyists and I’m very much looking forward to doing more for the community! I hope that you enjoy putting your minis together and getting them painted. Do you game as well?

Gandalf the Grey will always be my favourite in both book and movie versions, he is a more grounded and rustic character and the upgraded white version while still amazing seems more aloof and not of the world around him.

I agree with what you are saying, i like the term 'rustic' he seems very humble and and i do like the fact that he is a fan of Hobbits!

Well I am glad they could be of use! I made those first before jumping onto KZbin, I'm hoping that I can get to a point where I can do videos and then create more guides so there will be content for everything. I'm enjoying going through your videos, they are really well produced. Strangely (after the intro during painting) some of your colours look a lot brighter than my Army painter colours of the same label? Your tanned flesh looks much brighter, more like elven or barbarian flesh or much like Vallejo's cadmium skin, and the deep blue on Gandalf's hat looks much brighter than my AP deep blue? Also your stone golem on the beard looks matt white to me?
@SwordsandBrushes2 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much, i'm having a blast making them honestly! Oh yes its a combination of things - I have my daylight lamp pretty darn close to the mini (compared to when i paint normally) and that is so the camera has enough light to be able to pick up everything otherwise it goes incredibly grainy! And then i found out youtube compresses the video lots too and it looks different to what i see on my editing software - which is a touch annoying. But im still new to this and im sure i will figure out a better solution, i would love to get some better studio lighting which will help massively. Maybe one day, as i would love to do this full time as I love painting miniatures and i love creating videos So hopefully my enthusiasm and willing to help will shine through! :):)
@martingross67489 ай бұрын
Great video. Everything looks easy but now i start with painting miniatures, and put the details on the mini and combine light/shadow boost the final results. On your video you got it right, and looks peffect. But i struggle on one thing - with applying Citadel Shades, and when it dries, dark spots remain on the figure. I don't know why but it doesn't look nice :-( Do you have a trick how to fix it? On your miniature these dark spots i don't see it. Thanks and have a nice day. So inspirational.
@SwordsandBrushes9 ай бұрын
Thank you very :) The first thing that comes to mind with the darker patches is that there may just just a little bit too much of the Shade paints on, just keep an eye out on it when you rest your model back on the table as you will see it start to move over the surface of the miniature. An easy fix for this is to use a brush (preferably an empty one) and just lightly dab the Shade and any excess will soak into the bristles. Hope that is the issue for you and that it will help :):)

In The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, while filming the scenes that took place in the Mines of Moria, Viggo Mortensen is shot in a very specific way during his closeups. Pay attention, and you’ll notice that he’s only filmed on his left side. Why do we never get to see his right side? Because while surfing he ended up getting a black eye, and it took over a month for the swelling to go down. Because Aragorn learns from his mistakes.
@SwordsandBrushes2 жыл бұрын
haha no way! thats a fun fact right there, im due to watch the films again so i will look out for that :) I have just got an image of Aragorn in full gear surfing now!

@@SwordsandBrushes I've always been a book guy. I've noticed many Middle -Earthers are movie fans. I'm more of a purist about the written word. I think Tolkein provides just enough to let the imagination be the key player. I like KZbin painters because they have more imagination than some of the builders who recreate the movie scenes and terrain. I just got turned on to mini painting and I can't get enough. Thanks so much for your channel. It's perfect for me. Perfect! Thanks for the reply and the interest. You rock. I wish I could subscribe more than once. lol
