It is wonderful to watch real craftsmen at work. I feel like I was in my childhood when I was allowed to watch my dad at his carpenter's work. I always felt a little privileged to be privy to his secrets. Thanks for sharing brother.

Awesome content I know nothing about blacksmiths or very little but this video was incredible I just sat back and soaked in all the information I could. And what a bunch of cool people to hang with between you and all the other guys.

Thanks Thom, I feel the same way, I actually find this video pretty relaxing, something about Peter's instruction paired with the noise from the forge is just very nice.

Zach, What a huge amount of Knowledge in that one room some very interesting ideas and techniques displayed thankyou for sharing that with us Does that Press come with a foot peddle? I can see lots of times you need both hands on the work piece and not one on the handle and one on the piece esp with larger projects that could be very awkward without one.I cant wait to see what you come up with in your creativity Tony from Western Australia
@ZHFabrications6 жыл бұрын
Thank you Tony, it was an amazing experience! And yes there is a treadle (foot peddle) a the base, you can use either the handle or the treadle.
@MoondyneJoe6 жыл бұрын
Excellent I think if it only had the hand switch you would have been disappointed did you leave any of the days video taping on the cutting room floor during editing ? I for one would have loved to see more

About a year ago I had a video pop up in my KZbin feed of a guy making a really cool knife using his forge and other tools, I kinda brush edit off and about 5 months ago I watched another one and now for the last 3 months blacksmithing videos are like my porn now, I cant get enough of them they are fascinating to me I seriously wanna quit my job and become a blacksmith and it's so odd that for the last 20 years I've collected all these pieces of steel that most can be made into something and I was donated over 100 railroad spikes plus around 50 railroad anchors and a trAck plate and I'm still waiting to be donated a piece of railroad track so I can make an Anvil. I'm gonna make a forge and a few tools but I cant wait to get started. I feel like a kid on the night before Christmas except the Christmases my parents couldn't afford any presents but that just made me a harder worker and better provider and appreciate what I do have. Anyway thanks for the video.

@manga126 жыл бұрын
huh, a guy from muncie made a sword for a movie, crazy, many do cutlery for years and never get the opperatunity to make a sword actually used in a movie, though I did know abou the presses of coaliron, I hear good things from around the internet, and have even called there with blacksmithing questions and the types of things they can fabricate, just out of curiousity about 3 times or so, they seem personable, and very customer service oriented but, their machines are not the cheapest things around but you do get what you pay for, and seem to be constantly improving and offering new products for metal forming so, I give them 2 thumbs up , and not just because I am from indiana, they really do build a good product
@ZHFabrications6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they are great guys! I've been very happy with my press.
