There is nothing remotely insulting in either "wall of text". How thin is your skin? ---- As for that term, "wall of text", what is it with some people (usually Generation MeMeMe) who find it oppressive to read anything longer than a "tweet"? Do you never read articles, books, etc? When a post is important enough from a source who wants to be sure to communicate with clarity, detailed writing is important.

I can play voiced or silent protags. The problem is switching between the 2. When you have a game that's been voiced for over a decade and now the protag switches between voiced and silent, it is very jarring and makes you miss the voice acting. The voice acting is one of the few positive things that sets this game apart from other MMOs, in my opinion, and really is one of the only mechanics that makes it unique.

The main reason for playing swtor is roleplaying. When you remove the voice dialogue you basicaly destroy the whole roleplaying aspect of the game.

Well... no. Voice acting, particularly for the MC *hinders* role-playing, it severely limits the options available to the players, and by extension limits the direction the narrative can take. It's certainly great presentation, and I personally like VA for the MC, but your assertion is false.

You can emote with it, make cool RP videos and much more. I’m sure RP’ers exist who like to voice their own character. Which is still possible even with a fully voiced character. Also not helping the situation is a bunch of SWTOR "content creator/youtuber/streamer" being a bunch of kiss-up to the dev team arse. They always said "Ohh this expansion is awesome! There's no bug! I love you mr/ms dev, please give me more CC!" What bloody expansion!? This "expansion" they are releasing is NOT an expansion! KOTFE and KOTET are the actual expansion! When update 7.0 came out, it became clear in which direction the game was heading. They literally broke the best mechanics that were in 6.0, especially the easy farming gear, turning it into killing a lot of hours in operations to get maximum stats. They no longer have money and no ideas to take the game in an interesting direction, now everything is done for a small group of multi-billionaire nerd players from a closed discord community. I deleted the game and canceled my subscription. I don't want to go back to this garbage dump. I spent 6 years on the game, so that then for 2 years in a row the developers simply did not care about all my efforts and said, no, do it all over again and spend twice as much time on it all, for no apparent reason. Thanks for the motivation to quit this game.

The game ends well enough with KOTET... the rest of the story just seems so pointless and going nowhere and the new characters are uninteresting. Not having the player's toon speak during dialogue kills the whole role playing aspect that this game was built on. There is no heart in the new content and it shows :(

I quit a few years ago too. I do cherish the memories I had with the game. But nothing lives forever. WoW will suffer the same fate as well. I wish I could buy the game singleplayer with moderator rights. Coz the story and all is what I love about this game. Even if not.. I will have it in my memory. I also spent quite a lot of money in it, and I never regretted it. Even with how people said the game was dying, even back then. I never regretted it. This game gave me a story and experience few games ever did. It was worth all the money I threw at it. WoW and FFXIV are expected to last another 30 years. FFXIV is scripted for another ten already - based upon observing the commentary of their US rival and both games expect a run that surpasses the previous FF mmo. New Content is a lie, there is only Cartel Market. Through Cartel Market, Broadsword gains Money. Through money, SWTOR gains little. Through repeating the same events, SWTOR becomes stagnant. Through SWTOR becoming stagnant, the players wills are broken. And Broadsword still wants you to subscribe Orginally post years ago about EA, and the Dev team listed and things did improve, but SWTOR is a much older game now, it can't afford to alienate it players like this.

@@SWCentral Actually, ME 2,3 and Dragon age 2 is where they lost all of their competent stuff - specifically during the ME 2 where they started with DA Origins team and ended with most people leaving or people replaced either when they heard what ME 2 was about or when they were denied during the developement OR they agreed to finish ME2 and then never work for BW ever again. ME2 is where EA really started to put on the "shockcollar" on BW and started doing the dumbing down, crunching and denying them content because it could be "inappropriate to some".

What I will say is that they are watching the community forums and responding to these “misconceptions”. Keep letting out gripes known and hopefully something will change, do not let them blame us. I’d say all players can probably say 50% of the reason to play the game is to hear how your character responds too dialogue.

My biggest issue with the current state of the game and the devs is they seem hellbent only on graphic updates and hindering the player's with stupid things like the fast travel tax and removing the optional choice to skip fighting on Athiss and Hammer Station but they ignore actual game breaking bugs like flashpoint enemies glitching into the ground so you can't attack them

I'm a founder and I called them out in a rather lengthy breakdown over their pattern of gaslighting in that thread and the previous conquest changes. I made the statement that if they worked for me and they treated my customers like they've treated people here, I would've fired every last one of them and made sure their future employers knew why I fired them if/when they contacted me. I kept things diplomatic and never named anyone specific in the post, but they deleted it calling it "abusive and harrassment". Unfortunately for them I kept screenshots just incase they wanted to be morons about it. I've done the customary thing of firing off an email demanding the reversal of the warning because I know I did nothing wrong. If they don't then I plan to make a video about it myself. At this point they all need to be fired. I forgot to add that the post was perfectly fine for close to a week until it got alot of upvotes. Funny how that worked.

Good to know my decision to FINALLY stop paying a subscription to these people is the right one. The smarmy nonsense of Eric Musco and Jackie Ko on their livestreams (not to mention Keith Kanneg), championing how much wonderfulness SWTOR's next patch will be -- only for us to find out that we've gotten about 20 minutes of "story" and absolutely nothing else but mindless repetitive nonsense -- is not missed by this former player who dates all the way back from beta. We all know SWTOR is on life support, and that status of barely clinging on is ENTIRELY the fault of the people who MAKE this game, especially the figureheads who promote it... and many of us simply don't want to buy into their bullshit anymore. I was a fool for hanging on as long as I did, and I'm glad I wised up.

All we get is silence and then boom, a wall of text that insults players. Might as well remove the sub fee, I've been on Preferred since theg deleted comments about R4 on livestream. Was about to resub until I saw the shadow nerf, i.e. add random important changes witbout showing it in the patchnote, then make another wall of text to insult players. To be fair, Disney is currently blaming fans for not liking their drivel so Devs blaming players is par the course. This Game is still making a Billion Dollars and they bare-boning it!? This is ridiculous there is no excuse for them. I hate to say this but I advise my fellow Players/Fans to just play free play and wait a few years to pay for a subscription to unlock everything (this is what i'm doing), don't waste your money.

The player and most of the cast looks like plastic muppets while they have all these hyper detailed story characters in the same cutscenes. Really does look like an indie title where the devs don't give a **** about anything with all these mismatched and conflicting artstyles.

Hey man I am really glad you are making these videos. I was starting to lose faith in the devs with the Hutta "sub-area" with no benefits outside of a crumb of advancing a part of the story that should have been wrapped up 3 years ago. This recent forum post though has me done with subbing or wanting to support monetarily in any capacity. I am a founder in this game and played at launch. I loved the voice acting, story, and the grounded personal feel of this MMO. It felt completely different from others on the market at the time. I got into group content very casually throughout the game. Then more at the end of 6.X and the launch of 7.0 I was into more advanced group content (PVE and PVP).There were signs that group was being ignored or stuff was being cut that probably should not because a major aspect of MMOs is working with a lot of other players. Then I saw that forum post and to me it was the straw the broke the camel's back. If they aren't focusing on raids, dungeons, or PVP (casual or ranked) and they aren't focusing on story then what is left in the game? ERP and cartel market cosmetics? So it's a mobile game wearing an MMO skin like Buffalo Bill. I'm out then and will look back fondly on my memories with this game. I know you touched on it a little as well in your last video, but I find the behavior/professionalism (or lack thereof) of Jackie the CM to be particularly distasteful. Everything about her posts, personal twitter, and community interactions comes across as West Coast (America) passive aggressive wine aunt cry bullying. The CM being that comfortable behaving the way she does with players is a huge red flag for the how the whole dev team views their playerbase. This most recent event has her finger prints all over it if you look at her twitter and her numerous sims/stardew valley tweets. There is not a single group mission in this recent event. The only semi-group content is achievements for controlling a droid farming veggies (enough with the fucking droid controlling missions, it is boring and tiresome). It seems like she just wants to turn a Star Wars MMO into her own personal Star Wars Dew Valley instead of being a CM for that style of game. I have just grown to despise her and how she is the mouthpiece between game/narrative designers and the playerbase. I will keep watching your videos and see how all this progresses though. I am done with caring about the future of SWTOR though, for me it's just time to let go and move on to other games that do not seem to actively hate me/waste my time.

I am a simple man. Been playing SWTOR for years, i gve me monthly sub and i live by a simple policy. When i see creators using too many words instead of being simple...that is a red flag for me. New story and features with proper dialogue (NOT the KOTOR cr*p) and fix/improvement of known issues. These are the goals. Take it step by step to do it right. Do not give excuses about this and that and try to play politics. Things are simple. Remove the freaking QT tax, get proper VAs for the dialogues, give people good reasons in game to spend their credits, craft etc etc, make certain things easy and comfortable (codex entries and matrix shards need to be legacy wide), make other things harder, dont be afraid to go bad*ss on the story etc etc. It aint easy but if you want the big cash you have to work hard for it. So just do it and stop with the excuses. Oh and important....PLAY YOUR GAME. Don't just make....play to experience how things are working. If you are just checking the forums only you aint gonna realize all the problems.

Just came over from a Dudufilm SWTOR stream where you mentioned this. I knew things with SWTOR were bad but this bad? This is really sad to see, I've followed SWTOR since I was eleven. Haven't been able to personally play it since I was a teen (grew up & found out how difficult life is & how costly things like PCs are lol) but I still keep up with the game on KZbin by watching AnthWolf's playthroughs that he does. You could see the quality slowly dropping off begining with unvoiced lines in KOTFE & it's only gotten worse, I really hope things sort themselves out as it would be a shame to start only taking characters up to a certain point because of the bad quality later on. If things go completely belly up though then hopefully SWTOR won't get entirely shutdown, that would be so heartbreaking. I appreciate you covering this & exposing the lies & hypocrisies of the devs even though it's very disappointing to hear.

In the latest patch they even broke multiplayer conversations... I can't start conversations by clicking on some objects. It works only with npcs. I am really sad to see where this game is heading, it was and still is my favourite mmo, but the quality is droping quickly. I really hope they decide to save the game...

The thing I don't get about all this voiced vs unvoiced content is that even when you look at the base game before any expansions there were a bunch of reused voice lines for generic agree/disagree, "I sense a problem" etc. So are they saying now they just can't possibly even put that amount of effort into the game? honestly its like they are still working on the "siphon away all profits to other departments" mentality they were working under before or something because there is no way with all the subs, cartel market and more that they aren't making enough money for solid game development.

Do you think it's possible with future private servers for SWTOR? There are private WoW servers with dedicated dev teams churning out content for free. I have no doubt fans would run this game better than the current dev team. If not custom servers then maybe servers for specific expansion like vanilla, Hutt Cartel, Shadow of Revan etc. I would play any of those in a heartbeat, but I've never seen a private SWTOR server so I'm curious if it's even doable.

I think SWTOR ended when they rebalanced everything when it went on steam. The game became so easy and the only challenge was PVP. Silver and Gold enemies used to take a lot to kill, and did damage to warrant them being more elite soldiers. Now they're just grunts with more health that can't break past your companion's heal. Even without the heal I can aggro an entire room of enemies and not be in danger of dying. There's no point playing anything but DPS because there's nothing that can hurt you until you get to group PVE content like Ops and WB, where your companion is disabled. That's when my interest in the game really died

I left a comment in the “Decent into apathy” video where I posted my opinion on state of the game. I basically suggested hitting the reset button. That being said, I will give the dev team some credit on a few things that they have changed over the past months. The new lighting system is great, the method by which you gain gear is clearer than ever before, the changes in the GTN were for the best in my opinion, we finally got a hood that doesn’t remove your hair (super expensive and with real money to boot but still) and we got some progress on the Malgus stuff. I don’t know how much our voices alone can change the developers’ attitudes on the things we don’t like though. I believe a goodwill campaign on our part will achieve more than a protest would. Maybe then they will bring back some of the good old days (Vanilla up to Revan). And for the love of the Force: LET US LOWER OUR HOODS!

Problem is they dont make enough money anymore to justify hiring more actors and producing narrated scenes like back in the days. They're not completely wrong and it's either can the game for good a la archeage which is stupid or try to downscale on production costs. I hate the kotor style scenes personally so i hope they find alternatives to this shit.

1:20 - could be interpreted as the players or other devs. "Folks" seems a bit open ended and can referred to anybody. Though, that statement is really a way of saying, "I gave you a clear understanding of what was given before, but I'll explain it again in even simpler terms, so nobody screws up again." 2:12 - pretty much what Central said, it's doublespeak. I will say that makes the last statement even more hilarious because doublespeak is used to cause confusion to disguise an inconvenient truth. The truth is Broadsword is doing their own thing from what was given by Bioware on orders from EA. 3:31 - actively concerned how that woman was made narrative director when she says it's difficult to find material for Star Wars...like there is 40+ years of legends and fanfic stories out there that you can roll with from one of the most recognized IPs in Science Fiction. 4:17 - The only defense I can say for the devs is that those titles were made specifically for a limited time but even that's a weak argument because you can literally make an event about getting that as a bonus. I work in a game studio, if someone found a loophole like that then yes will we plug it, but nobody will lose anything from that. You found something that shouldn't have been found and helped us plug it in, that's your reward. 4:43 - Keep in mind Broadsword is a game maintenance company and not an actual studio that builds new games, its sole purpose is to keep games on life support until EA decides to pull the plug or invest money into it to revitalize the game. They will bring what they can bring to the table but honestly.... don't expect miracles or something on the level of work as Kotfe or kotet. Those days are passed for Swtor. 5:25 - Honestly, this is just a fancy way of saying, "We don't have much money, we are allocating the right voice lines to certain individuals for cost-effective management." After looking over the forum post, I see both sides of the argument. On one hand, I don't blame Broadsword for these actions. You need people and funds to actually keep creating these scenes/areas, EA is a prickly bitch when it comes to money and people....but don't EVER promise or say something is a feature if you're not guaranteed it's coming. Broadsword did that along with bringing back features that were hated in the original games. I understand cost effective strategies but as game developers, we need to find ways that don't tread don't paths that have already gone bad like the Kotor cutscenes. In summary, Screw EA for making Broadsword do this but i'm not surprised of this happening because...it's E-Fucking-A.

See i just got back into the game, playing classes i haven't touched in years and even specs I never touched before. I'm having fun again, even got some friends and old guild mates to play with me. Pvp and raids like the good old days. And then the devs decide to say this kind of stuff. I don't support people who hate me, and this comes off very much like that. We seriously need a private classic server. Cause the devs are slowly and i think purposefully killing the game. So we need a backup.

I'll be honest, I'm fine with patches taking longer to make as long as the quality remains the same. In 7.4 it wasn't as bad but now it was very noticable. The game isn't dying due to lack of money. SWTOR is raking in consistent profits for years. Smaller teams at smaller studios manage to pump out worthy expansions every year! SWTOR is suffering because the Devs have been here for so long that they have lost interest in their own game. They see it as a 9 to 5 and nothing more. Broadsword needs to get a whole new team in place. There are plenty of Star Wars fans in the development world who would enjoy the free playground that is SWTOR. The issues could be remedied in less than a month and we could have a game worthy of what Star Wars is meant to be

One thing I noticed upon the new update was not only the use of the kotor style cutscenes, but the very first one felt so jarring. There were no ambient sounds, background music, and even body movement seemed unnatural. Walking around on base, hearing SOMETHING, to near abject silence except for Acina ripping me a new one, was awkward. I had to restart the cutscene cause i thought something was going on with the game. If they're going this route, which i hope not for main story content, then at least make it a little more immersive than that jeez.

I agree there's an issue with content. I barely log in for most of 7.x . Its got to point I uninstalled it. I have been a player since it started with founder title with over 30 max level characters. there been other mmos where a side quest in a patch has a longer quest chain then the whole expansion main quest chain.

I know I must be in the super minority,, but I main a male consular. He seemed...angry in this update when he did speak. I get people don't like the voice acting, but I've experienced this voice acting for over a decade and like it a lot, for such a change, it was a little jarring. If the quality of the VO really mattered they would have changed it in 2.0, but they didn't, so why now I wonder? Anyway, good to see you back. Players should be standing up for what they pay for. The game should be focused on the players. If we got remixed flashpoints with a new difficulty, mechanics and mini bosses with new loot and a few new armor sets and weapons, that'd be cool. I really don't care about romances, that's for RL, what I want in my MMO, is...an MMO. Keep the story coming, but I would think adding some extra gameplay in the middle would help bridge the gap between updates. Give players are reason to go back to older content for new rewards and maybe add a title for completing them all. Hell, remix the operations, bring back old sets that you can earn by completing them. A dream to be sure.

@@KingOPMW I kinda agree. I think they’ve done a wonderful job with some of the new textures for faces and unique characters. But they didn’t use it for everything nor does older content match it, at all. If they improved textures all round, added better flowing animations for combat and look into how they can improve the combat latency issues. If they fixed the latency in combat it would improve a lot without even knowing it.
