if you sub, I highly recommend you get the following mix of skills with your different characters (assuming all Jedi or Sith specs). Keep in mind they have to all be on the same server to share items. Start a character, level them to lvl 10. Pick up the green gathering skills bio-analysis scavenging and archeology, you could even do two with those skills, but one will do to start. You'll see why in a moment: Next train two characters in Cybertech with skills slicing, and underworld trading (your first character(s) have the gathering skill scavenging to complete your cybertechs, get one Artifice with slicing and treasure hunting, your gathering characters have the archeology to complete that circle, and train a character in biochem, slicing and diplomacy, your gathering character has the bioanalysis to complete that skill, and lastly get a character in synthweaving with slicing and underworld trading, the gathering character has the archeology to round out that skill. So with your gathering character you want to collect every marked resource, it's not that tedious like you would think, that will give you all the green materials for level one crafting when you do Coruscant or Dromund Kaas. You don't need to harvest slicing resources you only get credits but nothing towards crafting, you have to run missions to get your blue and sometimes purple materials. You need two cybertechs to keep up with the other skills because they make twice as many useable items, grenades, mods, enhancements and earpieces. You can supplement your materials inventory on the Galactic trade network, you won't need any green mats but you might need the blues and purples. With this setup, you will be able to equip all custom armors and weapons and have all blue equipment and if you invest some time and money into the missions, some purple equipment. You have all the bases covered. I equip all my characters as soon as they hit level ten with all blue and purple stuff that I made for them myself, then I proceed to solo the heroic mission on the starting planet, finish that planet's storyline. You can go to the capital planet and solo a couple heroics right off but for soloing the tougher heroics you will need to upgrade your equipment when you level up (I do it when I hit level 18) Once you get this setup going you'll always have blue equips for all your characters from then out (you will probably need some funds so selling some of those equipments can get you the funds you need to buy more materials.

One thing I want to add is that, if you don't intend to craft, you can still make some bank by selling mats on the GTN. Some materials go for more, so its important to pay attention to the GTN market. With the server merges, the market will go into chaos for a few days, but once it settles, you'll get a good idea what is worth how much.

For a gatherer I do one mission skill, slicing and one of the three you have (arch, bio or scav). And I pair the gathering and mission skill for a craft, so I'd just have to drop slicing and they could take a craft and have the two matched to it. I'm doing extra alts after having all the crafts done. For f2p I recommend slicing if you only get one skill. It's free money and you don't even have to sell anything if you don't want to although the slicing mats do sell if you want to.

Nice video, thank you. Small addendum for new players: -crafting is a money sink not really worth it generaly -if you're a f2p or preferred, you'll encounter too many paywalls, just pick slicing until you get a sub or some crafting related unlocks on gtn or cartel market to make your life easier -exceptions are biochem (reusables), cyber (grenades), and slicing for money -while leveling, don't plan on crafting your gear (you can, but you level so fast your gear rapidly becomes outdated) -endagme crafting is a lot of work for not the best gear (logical, but had to point this out) -artifice, armormech for fashion, and when they add weapons to the outfit designer, weaponstech -big problem: generaly any old recipe you learnt you will keep in archives, but BW can erase totaly some recipes (biochem reusables have disappeared and came back, for example, crafting droid parts is purely gone cause they're not in game anymore) And a last, more general note for people that don't have a lot of time in game, by the time you have all professions maxed and are crafting the best craftable mods and items, a new crafting tear will appear and you're back to money sink phase.

Thing I like about crafting as opposed to other games is that the stuff I make- as long as I keep up in tier- is actually useful and better than what you'd get just questing. I actually want to make the new lightsabers I unlock in artifice and keep leveling that skill as all of them are actually useful even before endgame. When I played WoW, I wound up giving up on my professions as nothing you make has ANY use except for the top tier end-game stuff... Why would I grind for hours making useless crap for a point I may never reach?

I played WoW too, back in the Burning Crusade days... How the time flies. When it comes to SWTOR, I actually have a problem deciding between Artifice and Synthweaving for my Jedi Guardian... I am not sure, which will be more useful. I kinda like the idea of Artificing - crafting lightsabers, crystals, hilts, but Synthweaving can provide more gear in general + armoring mods with stats I need... Damn, I don't know.
@YourCrazyDolphin4 жыл бұрын
@@VesGaming_ I went with Artifice, and personally I think it benefitted me more overall. You're constantly getting new armor, so even if it isn't as good as it COULD be, it is always pretty good. But not everything gives you relics, and crystals are pretty much the only mod every weapon will take (not to mention that they DO buff stats), so I like Artifice more. Though, I haven't actually tried out Synthweaving yet.

@sath27497 жыл бұрын
I agree. if you plan on doing progression Operations then Biochem is a must. I recently switched my main imp and pub to bio for the raids. I am not one that crafts, but it is useful to have armormech or synweaving just to make MK-10s for your augments. If you have a lot of toons like some of us who have no life then I suggest only having 1 of each crafter besides bio. take as many gathering skills on all alts. you should never want to have any mission skill more than on 1 toon. I personally have 1 of each crafter where they have the 3 needed skills (craft, gather, and mission) then I have biochem (craft skill only with alternate gathering skills) on the toons I raid the most with, all my other toons have 3 gathering skills and 1 is always slicing.

I can’t play a game without feeling and looking badass, so I’m definitely going for the armor crafting skills

i just picked up armstech. :x this vid changed my mind to choosing biochem.
@Swtorista7 жыл бұрын
Haha! Armstech used to be really cool, and some of the "special schematics" are still neat, but it's a major bummer that you can't use the cool weapons at endgame.

Seems like the free to play and preferred status have improved since then

It actually haven't changed much, we've just gotten better at figuring out workarounds :D

THANKS SWTORISTA. AWESOME VIDEO AND I LEARNED A LOT. IF I WANTED TO MAKE A CYBERTECH ARMOR FOR MY CYBORG SMUGGLER. WOULD I BE USING THE ARMORMECH SKILL TO MAKE THIS KIND OF ARMOR? THANKS.

If you do PvP the best is cybertech, so you have an extra mass cc, which is quite crucial.

with reguard to arms tech i take exception to your statement about it not able to craft modifyable weapons and high level weaponsmit can make custom-built high level weapons,at lower levels yes your right,but from level 20 up you v\can equip and modify blasters,blaster rifle,custom-built sniper rifle and have been able to for years,also Cybertech can and always have made mods and enchants for weapons which just like other proffessions are great for weapons and armor artiface and sythweaver i think it is can make armour that can go into modifyable armor,you didnt mention any of this

I'm having to re-take/re-learn my crafting skills because I guess game updates since I last played have changed them.. As I've found mats to harvest but don't have a skill to collect the item.

I'm in Elder player but I'm just returning after a couple yr absence and I'd like to have my memory refreshed on which crafting skill is best for creating augments
@Swtorista6 жыл бұрын
It depends what type of augments you want to make: www.reddit.com/r/swtor/comments/77bhji/does_anyone_know_of_any_guides_for_who_can_craft/dokjyu7/

Swtorista thank you for the swift reply as usual.. I really like that you seem to engage with your community... Always a good thing... I'm looking specifically for the type of augments you would put in your armor your relics and your implants or earpieces Etc

I've always preferred to Source my questions and Curiosities etcetera to the community rather than Google... The reason being is this really tends to help Foster a greater sense of community Etc within the player base( minus the trolls of course LOL)

Hello ! Would you still not recommend Armstech these days ? I thought the idea of my sniper crafting its own rifles was cool, but if the weapons are still not that interesting, i'm probably going to drop the idea and pick another crafting skill. Thanks. Note that i'm quite hooked into the game right now and may end up having all crafting skills on various characters, but the sniper being my first, it might be a better choice for me to start with something useful/profitable right off the bat (Biochem ? Cybertech ? Artifice ?) P.S : i'm subscribed.
@Swtorista5 жыл бұрын
The biggest problem is the weapons are not moddable so you must choose a weapon based on stats not what looks cool. So I still don't super recommend it :)
@Swtorista5 жыл бұрын
As for what to choose yeah gathering skills are easy money :)
@laurent15125 жыл бұрын
@@Swtorista Thanks ! Here goes Armstech then :) Yes i got from your video that 3 gathering skills are the best way to get credits, but crafting is part of the fun for me. Could you tell me a bit more about the quality of the armors/augments/earpieces that armormech and cybertech make ? Are they worth it, or can you easily get better gear with PVE/instances rewards ? Overall, what crafting skill would you recommend to improve your character stats/efficiency wise while still being able to do a little money by selling ? That's a lot of questions, sorry ^^
