I remember sitting in the backseat of the car as a kid, my parents driving me home from a ballet lesson through the Swedish countryside. I was listening to a compilation cassette tape (this was on the cusp in between the transition from cassettes to CDs), and this song was on it. I remember thinking I was so glad that I was in the backseat, so my parents couldn't see the tears streaming down my face, just looking out the window and letting the song wash over me. I didn't really understand English back then (I was only 11-12 years old), but the song was so powerful that I just couldn't help but crying. It was beautiful back then and even now, every time I listen to it, it still makes me tear up. These women (with a helping hand from the King of Pop himself) were a wonderful part of my childhood, because it's music like this that made appreciate the borderless beauty of music and made me want to properly learn English, and I can never thank them enough for that.

rc2300s2r Maybe, it's because they weren't as commercialized like en vogue or TLC ... the uique part about them is they didn't have to use sex appeal to gain international attention like Katy Perry does ... sorry, SWV doesn't belong in that category ... they're in a different league of their own ... song's under - appreciated, under - valued ... and - over looked. At least we all understand genuine music ...
@cammicty9 жыл бұрын
Marc Amico Dang you must be young, really underrated? This song was number one over played on every radio station. I was working in the Broadcasting Industry back then. Underrated not! If you're looking at it from todays standpoint, don't because in while the new generations years down te line will say that about beyonce! 22 years ago this was the joint, and also on the Free Willy Soundtrack!
@marcamico99919 жыл бұрын
cammicty actually, I'm 34 ... thanks for prejudging. 😊. Maybe not this song, but the group in its entirety. R&B was HOT as lava back in the early 90s ... now, it's just lame. I rarely heard this on the radio. I was hearing trendy songs from TLC, En vogue, and Mary J. Blige ... all of them were great to listen to. Don't mistaken. However, the popularity of this song wasn't nearly as appreciated as opposed to Mary's true love, and En vogue's never gonna get it. Probably am young according to your standards of the age gap ... but, it was entertaining growing up in the 80s and 90s listening to authentic and at times wth was that all about type of music ...
@cammicty9 жыл бұрын
Marc Amico Ok like I said ( without prejudging) as if this is your profile pic you looked about in your early 30's so 34 would put you around 12! Also it depends where your geographical location was. This song was the bang and played consistantly in '' the loop'' as we used to call it then! It was No.2 US wide on the Billboard Charts and even in Europe it was in the top 10, so not only was it an overplayed Domestic Hit it was and over played International hit, and in the EU is still played in the clubs (smh @ that, but thats the EU 4 ya) Yes the Music of the 90's was amazing, as for me so was the music from the late 70's and thru the 80's! Btw it got more Radio Play than Mary J's Real Love at the time, which only peaked in the high 30's on the Charts, this was and still is my Genre, the Music scene. I know about all the artists. past and present, but the pasts artists I still love the best. These new Artist today that are on the top, the majority of them can't sing and produce crap! Or can sing and their labels produce crap, pulling/using/sampling from other big hits in the past. The originality has left the music industry, creative talent etc,. I must say there are some good ones out there, but they aren't No 1 on the Charts, but in my opinion, they're awesome!

Just goes to show how timeless good music is, the original version was decent but the Human Nature mix takes it to a whole new level. Teddy Riley did a brilliant job sampling the original MJ song and then incorporating it seamlessly with SWV's harmonies and lyrics. So much so that it still holds up today.

Right? I can't believe I used to bash SWV and artists like them in general because my older brother influenced me at the time. These days, I find myself going back to songs like this and appreciating the classic hits they were and are. This one in particular stood out because of the way they remixed the song with MJ's hook, originally SWV were not on board and worried this would tank. Welp, instead it turned into their biggest hit, boy did their tune change quickly after that. *lol* But seriously, this is such an amazing song. It stands on its own because the lyrics are packed with meaning about unconditional love and the MJ sample in this remix is just the icing on this delicious cake.

Michael Jackson's voice and the keyboards in both the choruses and the verses, accompanied by the artist's voice, make the song generate an incredible and inexplicable atmosphere. You close your eyes and feel like you're taking a walk through the early 90s. It's amazing how much music has changed over the years and how the times have become very different. Nothing is the same since the old days. The video gives you that feeling of tranquility, good times, friends, nature, 0 social networks and phones. Today everything is hustle and bustle.
