Heroes was my first Sonic game and I was most intrigued by Shadow and Metal Sonic, so this fight is just everything I could’ve hoped for. Him calling Shadow a fake hedgehog is just brilliant. The voice isn’t as cool now but his lines of being driven clearly made by wanting to be more than just a copy of Sonic, him having Chaos Control, and him using the Chaos data he stole to cause the whirlpool are just perfect

What I like thematically about all of Shadow's Boss fights in this game is each one is connected to him not just in that he's fought or encountered them before, but that they share his DNA in a way (though Mephiles is a bit of a stretch)
