that SE: slither patch sounds amazing, there are not a lot of resources online about good tips for RCM. I like your idea of using RCM to give an AWM sample some fm distortion, do you have any other tricks like that?

There are a lot of ways to modulate RCM - breath controller, aftertouch, mod wheel, velocity, etc. It depends on the kind of sound. Most of the ways I use FM involves either big layers, RCM distortion, or composite. The last two methods usually involve a combi, performance, or multi. Most people deal with FM programs on one or two part basis. I like the "big" sounds. The great thing about the TX816 was that it encouraged the user to think that way. It was a lovely monster. In 1988 (before SY synths), I made this Sweepers song with the TX816 and an RX5 snare (transposed down). Most people didn't know that FM could sound like that. www.midnightsunent.com/Sweepers.mp3
