Thank you for your reaction. I would say its both singing competition and also top song awards. This is by far the most prestigious singing competition in Malaysia. All the songs competed for this awards were based on the song chart all year and only the top song could participate in the competition. The longer and high the song position in chart the more chances they have to qualify for the competition. Just like korean music show, they have to sing it live and the audiences who likes the song would vote for them and if its popular enough the song will have a position in the chart. Maybe they have like top 30 or something songs in chart and if a new song nomination enters the chart one song would be out of the chart. So, from these top songs, they would hold a semi-final competition with professional judges and choose top 12 songs to compete in the finals. There used to have several categories to these competition like ballad, pop, traditional but now none of it applies. I don't really sure if the audiences have a chances to vote for their favorite song in the final but to win this competition, the judges will give their marks based on the music, lyrics, performance, vocal combined to be the best song. Also they have categories like best vocal performance and the best performance besides the top 3 song.
