Maybe it’s just the POV from the GoPro but I can’t imagine navigating that without getting lost. Much different than the races here in the Midwest.

Wow! Great job!! Congrats to both of you!!! I remember Macky a few months ago saying something along the lines of "I see Carter and I wanna be riding like that!" and now he's dropping both Carter and Kabush? Impressive results from coach Mike's training program!! Hard work pays off, no doubt. One can only hope to have a hint of the discipline and talent that you guys display week on week. Thank you, as always, for sharing :)

Congratulations! Love your videos. Chile and Moab series rocks (no pun intended). I noticed a few things if you can answer: 1. The bottle caps on the steerers - are they actually bottle caps? If so how did you fix to the bike? 2. Do you ever need to get off the bike? Some of the over taking moves looks next level if you stayed on the bike. 3. Is lycra still allowed in MTB? I love the new colours. Sending you lots of good vibes from Sydney Australia.
@sydandmacky
@sydandmacky Жыл бұрын
1. Yup, actual bottle caps. We use the Niner YAWYD stem caps which allow you to put any bottle cap you want on. 2. Every once in a while in an XC race we'll encounter a feature that we'll walk but generally we are able to ride most things. Usually if we have to walk it's because someone ahead of us screwed up which screwed us up and we had to get off. 3. For XC riding (and especially racing) Lycra/spandex is the default. It's light, breathes well, comfortable and doesn't restrict your movement. Baggy outer shorts and long jerseys make sense for Enduro/dh stuff where protection is more important than pedaling comfort.

I think the difference for Syd this year when she hit the singletrack was she was riding with a better, faster, more skilled crowd because of her fitness gains and they were all able to ride the section instead of walk. Can't wait to see what her new superpowers will help her conquer next race! So close to 100k, hope these vids shoot you over the top!!

GoPro dying is a bummer. It is certainly possible to come up with a power source solution, using two connected batteries or some power bank. Ideally, turn the camera on at the start and forget about it. The added weight would not be much.

You mentioned the training is paying off but how does the new house factor in? Just curious if it helps a little or a lot having a home base, gym, kitchen, trails close by… Also curious what your heart rates are during the race. Not sure if you want to share that information but it would be awesome to see on the video during the race. Thanks for the awesome content.

@3:40 Syd & Macky, you should race BMX. Not because you need any more riding time or anything like that, its just that at the start to every race people are going hard with their elbows out and trying to block you from passing. If you raced BMX you'd know how to, not only pass them but to make sure they didn't do that BS in future races. My favorite tactic is to touch my rolling front wheel to the back of their heel. I do this because I know I'm faster than them in every other aspect of racing bikes in dirt. I find that it's mostly roadies that go HARD out the gate only to ride their breaks all the way down hill and don't move off trial when they hear my freewheel ZOOMING up behind them. Same kind of roadie behavior you see when they are out on road rides with friends, they ride in a huge pack and more often than not go into the traffic lane even though they have a good 4 feet of bike lane.
