As a new reader, Fourth Wing was the first physical novel that I read from start to finish (i'd listened to some audiobooks before, but mostly Star Wars expanded universe stuff). And I didn't even know it was hyped when I bought it. I literally just got it from Walmart cause I was walking by and I liked the shiny cover. And, of course, it became my favorite story of ALL time. As a WICKED weeb, and someone that loves movies and TV shows, The Empyrean series is my #1. Remains as such, even now that I've read a few more books. And this video is the first experience I've had since I started reading so aggressively where I get to hear someone else's opinion on a book that I love so much (I don't have a lot of friends with my interests), and I am SOOOOOOOOO indescribably happy that you love it too. Listening to you geek out about it was almost as joyous for me as the actual book itself. 5/5, on to your Iron Flame video cause I've read that too. P.S. I have learned to go into reviews like this with a sort of stone wall around my heart, because it does sometimes sting when someone doesn't feel the same way about something you love as you do. And I will go into the Iron Flame video with the understanding that it might not wow you the same way this one did. That said, I am cautiously optimistic cause watching you react in this video gave me so much life. On we go!

I really wish publishers and books stores would actually listen to booktubers/grammers/tokers. I swear I hear new adult by readers more than people in the publishing world when marketing a book. Violet is only 19 which is still pretty young and so of course her story reads a little more juvenile than someone in their late 20s or even older. Like you said new adult not adult (too spicy for YA, but not quite adult).

🐉I read Fourth Wing and gave it 3.5 stars. I had an issue with the pacing. I'd be like oh this is getting good or there'd be a great scene and then I'd get bored. I also don't understand why Violet is special. She's super smart which gave her advantages but in other instances it seemed like she was being favored unfairly for no reason unless it's because of her health issues and the author didn't want it to seem like it was for that reason. Overall I thought it was a good book but I didn't love it.
