I really love Mische and I'm so excited to read her story in Nyaxia. I just added Red Sonja - I didn't know they were resurrecting her character - I believe she was a character from an 80s movie - so I went ahead to pre-order because, like you, I love a "has to go back to face their past" story. Great list - I look forward to this video every season!

Horror fans are eating WELL in September! Aside from those mentioned in the video, we're also getting new books from Brom (writer of Slewfoot), Andrew Joseph White (writer of Spirit Bares Its Teeth), Scott Thomas (writer of Kill Creek), and, my most anticipated, Johnny Compton's follow up to Spite House, Devils Kill Devils and so so many more. I'm so excited for the spooky season.

I have read the arc for both We'll Prescribe You a Cat and We Shall be Monsters. If you like Japanese literature, you'll like the first. Wees writes a dark, modern but ancient feeling tale that felt like a twisted fairytale I couldn't stop reading.

Besides the mystery books, I believe we have different tastes in books.I am not so much into gothic, vampires, etc. A good world built fantasy without an enemies to lovers trope is also down my alley. I do not begrudge you and your preference. I always am happy that people are reading, and it seems to be happening more. I will be picking up the Richard Osman book around christmas time. When I am back home on vacation at my mother’s. I am more into the historical mysteries, cozy mysteries, Jim Butcher type of fantasy. Along with the Bible of fantasy ‘Lord of the Rings.’ If you want to read like one of the first romantacy books, pick up the Dragon Prince by Melanie Rawn, ignore all the bad editing, it is still a good book. Also Mercedes Lacky first two series, Heralds of Valdemar, and the last herald mage series.

Hamilton, and the winds of truth by Brandon Sanderson (Stormlight archive book 5) these are the ones coming out this year that I want to read. I think you would like some of them as well. Let me know if any you didn’t know about interest you.

I typically gravitate toward thriller and sci-fi but I’m interested in trying something different but also kind of in that realm. Would just love a fantasy intro since I have no idea where to start.

It’s pronounced Red Sonya. She was played by Bridget Neilson back in the day along side Arnie who played Conan. Whilst I did watch it when I was younger, I don’t really remember the film. It’s probably great cheesy 80’s Arnie, though 😂

Every author who rips off the Hunger Games (Which is already a rip off of Battle Royale, but that's a whole separate issue) should be put in time out and forced to come up with a unique idea. Oh my god why is every YA and dystopian book a rip off of the Hunger Games. It's not interesting anymore.

"is loath to" is absolutely a phrase but uhhh that's not how you say loath. It's loathing with out the -ing, rather than rhyming with loaf. I don't know why google pronunciation says it like that unless that's the British pronunciation.
