Im not too sure you have to ask a plane expert but i do remmember when they put the 747 longreach in service while they still had the older standard 747 in service. Regards Tim

+HoldenisAustralian No......not correct......all Qantas 747-400's carry the "Longreach" tag......it refers to Qantas's birthplace in Longreach Queensland (actually Winton Queensland but Longreach was the location of the companies first head office......now Sydney NSW)......not the range of the aircraft.

The 'Longreach' tags were first applied when 747-400 deliveries commenced in late 1989

That runway was 34 left and it is the longest runway in the entire airport so that's why there are a lot of heavies landing and taking off at that runway.

Hi it was from the roof of rydges hotel if they have no seminars on they allow the public to use there rooftop for a $10 fee. It has great views of airport, although its best on a cool day due to heat glare.

Thanks for your kind comments, sorry for late reply, Its the main runway, there is a lot of editing I nearly had to cut out a day of footage as most of it was not so good due to my choice of camera, Ive purchased a new one now a Sony HX400 and have some more video to upload soon, it was much easier and less to edit out, this sort of video is hard work for a camera.

I use a Sony Hx200v and have found it very, very good. I plan to upgrade to the 400 sometime soon. we'll see.

Its was difficult from memory auto focus didnt work well and i deleted about 70 percent of my footage over two days as it was unusable due to poor focus etc, this was all that was left, my new Sony x400 is much better.

Jarod's AviationHD Hi Jarod you just go to counter at Rydges and pay $10 they give you a free coffee voucher and a pass to use the roof all day, but it pays to check first if they have a booking for the converence room then it is closed, but that doesnt occur often.

No not for a long while when hobart airport upgrade is finished i will and telephoto lenses on 4k improve at 50x zoom there are none i know of yet.

That's an MD-11 not a DC-10. UPS only has MD-11's no DC-10's.Great video though!
