I have a home about 15 minutes from the CBD and can say that Sydney's greatest asset is Port Jackson, the great opening with its multiple coves and cliff faces. It is possible to take ferry rides or rivercats to Manly or Parramatta and enjoy the beautiful harbour up close. There is a lot of development going on at present with the construction of the light rail through the heart of the city and the massive Westconnex road project, but when that is all finished movement around and beyond the CBD will be a breeze. It is also a city you can feel safe in, provided you take the usual precautions.
