I'm reading Sydney's autobiography now. She has good genes, is naturally competitive and grew up in a track family. She was destined for greatness. Her story has already been written.

She has an older sister who did nothing in track, and a brother who was D-1 level. Inheritance is important but the Strife will always test to see what you are really made of. She definitely has been tested, mainly off-track.

Yeah there are no more 'off-years' in the sport with a new 3-day Outdoor World Champs (World Athletics Ultimate Championship) on 11-13 Sep '26 in Budapest with the biggest prize pot in the sport of $10m with event winners receiving $150k! They'll be held every 2yrs & only have Semi & Final rounds for Track Events & straight Finals for Field Events featuring 8-16 of the world's top ranked athletes per discipline with selections primarily based on world rankings, so around 400 athletes from about 70 countries are expected to compete. Surprised Rodney didn't s/o Bahamian Rhema Otabor's 64.19m in the JAV (#1 all-time NCAA) who broke the NCAA Record by a HUGE 2m :) Was really hoping for the full legal 2m/s tailwind in McKenzie Long's 100m/200m Finals as she would've broken the 21.80 NCAA Record! Shaun Maswanganyi, Favour Ashe & Tarsis Orogot are in danger of developing a reputation for not being able to get it done in Big Meet Finals :( S/O recently turned 18yr old Freshman Sam Ogazi who's now run three 44.5s in his last 5 races & finished a close 2nd behind 19yr old CMW in the 400m Final, looking forward to seeing both youngsters in Paris. Fred still hasn't run sub 10s since Sep '23 & sub 20s since Jul '23 & sorry to say it but looked like he cracked under self-imposed pressure @NY Meet the other day! If she wants to, Syd can definitely run sub 11s 100m, sub 22s 200m, sub 12.5s 100mH, low 48s 400m & low 50s 400mH - crazy incredible range! Can probably also run a sub 2min 800m as well! Shame that Kayla White, Britton Wilson, Kaila Jackson, T'Mars McCallum Jr., Michael Cherry & Trayvon Bromell have all scratched from Olympic Trials with no doubt more scratches to follow over the next few days :( Glad to see JaMeesia Ford entered into both 200/400m events as they're a wk apart in the schedule, hope the likes of Gabby/Abby do the same instead of only running the 200m 🤞

I remember back when the pandemic first started, news came out that IAAF was going to submit a championship run spanning from 2021-2025. In order to get back on track with the traditional schedule and bidding. So the next worlds after 2025, will be Beijing 2027 .For those that knew this added pressure because every has been a huge money year for track and field. There probably won’t be another time like this. Personally believe the pandemic was the best thing for track and field.

Ignore the other persons explanation smh. D3 means Division 3 school. In the American college system, there are divisions. D1 schools are the better schools in sports and therefore are able to recruit better athletes and get more coverage. D3 schools are looow on the totem pole. About as low as JuCo (Junior College). It is VERY difficult to get recognition for athletes coming out of a D3 school or JuCo. Not impossible but hard.

But what about Britton Wilson. She should have left early for the pros. Multi athletes get broke in college trying to get points for their coach. Britton should not have been running multiple events while injured. that was coaching malpractice. She's missing another championship season because of that fiasco. Brianna Lyston was struggling by the end of the year. If you are a talent like Britton, or Michael Norman or Sydney...you need to bounce.

Exactly! It was absolutely heartbreaking to see that level of malpractice especially considering the fact that she ran multiple doubles throughout the season with little recovery time. Knowing that there was only 25 minutes between both events at the NCAA finals and the fact that she was already dealing with shin issues, how did it make sense for her to run both events? I hope she’s able to recover from this someday soon. 🙏🏿
@kpat3052
@kpat3052 Ай бұрын
@ImagineJoyy you should also consider Briton did it to herself. She insisted on doing those doubles. Check out her documentaries on KZbin and she has a series about getting ready for the Olympics. She is the one who kept pushing the envelope and not allowing her body time to heal.
@ImagineJoyy
@ImagineJoyy Ай бұрын
@@kpat3052 I hear you but it’s also a coach’s responsibility to look out for the well-being of the athlete. Even if that were the case, the coach (who has more knowledge/experience than a collegiate athlete) could/should have stopped her but it’s obvious they wanted those points.

What's happening with track is similar to what was going on with wrestling in the 1970's-1980's. There are so many "regional" broadcasters putting different meets on live and now and then the big network, NBC, comes in and puts a meet on. With the exception of Ato, Dan, Sandra, and Lewis, NBC coverage sucks. That's problem 1. The track coverage is not broadcast by track people. It's run by the same assholes that put a few horse races on TV each year and it's horrible. Problem #2 is the myriad of small streamers broadcasting meets. Some are free, some are paywalls, no rhyme, no reason. These are the 2 main problems, in my opinion. You can have GREAT track coverage. Go look at the BBC coverage of the London Olympics. Every event, every round, highest quality with some of the most educated broadcasters. You need these two ingredients, not a red carpet, not a behind the scenes, not athletes to love and athletes to hate. Quality cameras and knowledgeable broadcasters. That's it! : )
