@@mikeflatbird729 It HAS to be a CARTOON because it is representing a fantasy situation. One can only guess at the flat earth model because flat earthers cannot produce one of their own. Scale doesn't matter to make the point in this footage but what is important is that the size of the Sun remains constant as observed in reality no matter what side of the fence you sit. A te lire, cordialement kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3-qn5aJatmmras

"What a load of rubbish" My reaction was entirely the opposite. Since I've seen you often in live chat on the Book of the Sun's streams, I take it you've embraced Antonio's theory of the sun being a "holo-prismatic nexus of filaments" and not the localized sun that Jos Leys has depicted. If so, then I understand why you might find this to be "rubbish." I'm inclined to think Antonio's non-localizable holo-prismatic sun notion, while novel and unorthodox (for flat earth), is "rubbish." Antonio's method of promoting his notion of the sun is to find "problems with the globe." Jos's animation here is a "problem for the flat earth." If a holo-prismatic nexus of filaments solves this "problem," I'd like to see how. I have an idea to challenge Antonio's non-localized sun claim with some collaborative observations. I'd like flat earther's to make the observations. All you have to do is take a photo of the sun with a terrestrial landmark in frame on a specific day and time. Are you game? The objective will be to see if the sun's subsolar position can or cannot be fixed. According to Antonio, because the sun is not-localized (like a rainbow), it can't be. I say it can. @@josleys so are you denying that atmospheric conditions do not clutter our vision ? Are you saying that we should see forever , well even physicists say that we see stars and sun clearly because they have a much greater angular size . But if you are testing the other perspective that the earth is flat then definitely all the celestial objects are smaller , much smaller than earth and it is a safe assumption to make . So if the celestial bodies are much smaller and we have a limited vision then we wwont see the sun circling we would see it set from our perspective just as we see a boat sink to the horizon as it moves far away , the angular size diminishes. So the horizon is not curvature but all objects diminish to a single line due to their line of sight as they move farther away. Ofc we can rise above the ground to see a much larger portion of the earth but the limit is only 50 miles coz after that only space agencies claim to reach that height

That's the classic FE model that most use, though none work. So what model is used? How does it explain the Sun rising in the Southeast and setting in the Southwest in Sydney in December?

I would be very interested in knowing where the agreed FE model is documented. The circling Sun and Moon over an AE map appeared to be widely accepted until the disagreements with observation were made clear by globers. Now I understand the general position is to say globe is clearly wrong but we do not know anything other than it is definitely flat + still. Well Sun directly overhead can be plotted so it must be circular. The angular size is the same everywhere at noon so it should be pretty high up and constant. If it were closer people to the side would see it smaller and they don't. However the higher it is the more distortion would be required to make it set and rise. The same thing appears to apply to the Moon which is far less bright than the Sun. Thus this is not a function of brightness, Why are the stars not affected? They are affected by the expected refraction effects but not this massive hiding effect. A more direct problem is the day night pattern in the South. You have an area of night surrounded by day. So the Sun's illumination behaviour is varying over the year and very strange on the flat Earth. So we have a model which meets observations and one that implies stuff that does not. I am afraid the globe wins easily under the making predictions and meeting observations criteria if you simply say do your research.
