Perfect evidence that building more roads will NEVER solve a traffic problem... Bike, walking and public transport infrastructure and services are the only solutions to reducing traffic congestion whilst moving more people

Even people who *have* to drive benefit from more PT because the roads won't be as full.

Sydneysiders aren't enlightened to the dangers of car dependency and how it ruins cities even further. We have a car addiction and we won't be going to rehab anytime soon.

Yeah, nah. Just build public transport. Building more roads is just inefficient and a waste of money.

*barf* I didn't realize how car-dependent Sydney way. Should have spent that money on rail infrastructure.

I tried to head from Balmain to city on Saturday and the light system felt like trying to get into double Dutch skipping ropes - I ended up just going thru on an orange I think and waiting for the ticket to come … those lights are worth a try if you’re up for a thrill!

Let's bring in hundreds of thousands more people each year, what could go wrong.

The logic of this business of designing freeway interchanges where they have the completely unintuitive arrangement to go left you first have to merge right, but to go to the right, it is a left lane which must be initiated, has to be explained. The Rozelle interchange isn't the first to employ this fool of an idea. The actual designers need to explain. My theory is that, they are designed with CAD systems which are developed for RH Drive and they are too far into their belief that, Euro/US systems are always best.

Howard Collins spent his entire career first managing trains for London Transport, then for Sydney Trains. What does he know about roads?

How much of this is people avoiding toll roads?

Bugger all, it is about forcing 50,000 locals and all the busses travelling from the North onto a single lane access to the Anzac bridge, The story about people not using the tunnel lanes is just a smoke screen, if the busses went into those tunnels it would probably work, but Balmain is the last stop of many of those bus routes. so 60% of the morning traffic must still go above ground and whereas it used to have 3 lanes to turn from it is now 1, it is just simple maths, it was known and nobody cared as it is not an in play electorate for state govt.

@@craigmoy5428 Thanks for your feedback, merge points are always the problem, better off not even having an extra lane if it's not continuous.

in another clip some lady was like get rid of the bus lane, make more room for cars!!!

We need to address the illiteracy problem in Sydney. People can’t read signs, public notices, etc. Anyone who can read a street sign or has some level of intelligence, that uses the Westconnex, would know it’s a marvellous road that blasts you through traffic lights! My commute went from 1hr 15min each day, to 25mins!

$4B÷# of employees required to construct???? Equates to a salary of over $1M per employee. Any questions...AUkus sub costs perhaps??? all lies.....

So.. they spent $4b to build direct routes and more lanes that lead to a choke point that was already there in the 90s 🤦♀️ I'm no engineer but I grew up travelling through Vicky road by bus, car and bike. It was never going to work.

Sold up my apartment in balmain, looking for a nice duplex in beverly hills. Wesr connex has really benefited that area, 20 mins to anzac bridge from there. Can get a 5 bedder for 2.5 mill ish..
