i tipped seans by 25. 3 points off, but they played great. seeing grundy play so well brought a smile to my face, even though hes not in the black and white anymore i still wish him all the best at Sydney. same with tay adams too

Honestly just glad footy’s back. Some nice ball movement from both sides, sloppy execution from both sides. Melbournes forward line is a mess right now. Not sure how Schache gets a game of AFL footy now a days.

Who would've thought that the first match of the 2024 AFL season would be at the Sydney Cricket ground before the fixtures were even ennounced? Great to have football back. There were periods of inaccuracy by both teams, but Sydney were the ones who wanted the match more. First premiership points go to the Swans.

There was an obvious problem with the Dees only playing 3 quarters instead of 4. Is it a basic fitness issue, or a failure to adapt to the slippery conditions? I think they need to work hard on both issues. PS. I don't ever want to see them going back to kicking way more points than goals.

Agreed Max Gawn looked very fatigued during the 4th and yes he won't have to play that good of an opponent every week but looking at it for finals (ik its a long way away) not having him fit for the 4th quarter in close games against good teams is a worry.

Not sure if Swans played great, but a few more games and we will see if Melbourne's premiership window has closed. They could tank and start the rebuild now or maybe do like Hawthorn and trade some premiership players for good young players or draft position.

Don't be fooled by the highlights, the game was quite boring overall. Melbourne had 1 goal before finally kicking one before & after half time. Grundy played ok but not worthy of the praise that he got. Papley is the best player, if he finds the ball more could win the Brownlow.

@@crypto463 I don't think Papley was best on ground, but I think he is the best player at Sydney and primed for a great year. Grundy had some good moments, but Gawn beat him plenty especially in the 1st half

But I also think grundy does deserve the praise because he had 23 disposals 4 marks 6 tackles 9 clearances and 33 hit outs against a well respected opponent.

It’s not as if most of those Richmond V Carlton games were stellar themselves anyway. Probably only 2 or 3 memorable ones I can recall as Carlton have been a bottom team for 90% of the last 20 years
