Nice video. I have ridden it several times. A nice, relaxing way to get to the beach and back to Sydney. I am going there again in January.

Nice trip ...in poor weather...oh well......I was born in Sydney in '43....used go to Manly "all" the time.....as you docked, there used be a board walk out from the inner harbor beach on the left...destroyed in a storm in '74...my Mum used take me there as a wee lad...sailed out of Circular Quay on the CANBERRA in '64....thanx for the memories !! :)

Captured beautifully 👍🏻. I enjoyed this ferry ride.

Brilliant footage. These ferries are built double ended which means they can go either direction without turning around. They usually run in a specific way and like all watercraft they have a bow and a stern. They usually run bow to the north but as captured here they ran the Freshwater aft to the north, which is quite rare. Lucky you, got a rough day! Always good fun!

I love Sydney. I love Circular Quay and the ferries and going to manly. I live in Queensland State, but when I go on a cruise i go from Sydney, as we use to live in Sydney. And i go on the Carnival Spirit ship. I hope you enjoyed your Sydney trip and thanks for sharing. Next time i go down to Sydney I'm going to do the Parramatta cruise, as i haven't done that one. Still enjoy your videos. And been on the Freshwater many times

Great trip, I went on it in February 2007 and it was a much calmer and finer day in summer. Amazed you got such a gloomy and cool day, Sydney in March is usually really nice. Christchurch is my home town, so can't wait - can't imagine what boat you will be on unless its a punt down the Avon.

Glad you like it :) Unfortunately I did get unlucky with the weather, the trip I did started in Christchurch and finished in Wellington however my video will as usual just mostly cover the ferry trip part on the interislands ferry, thanks for watching and commenting

I was there in March, it was a great trip, we went over if the afternoon and came back at night with great city views. I found Manly much better than Bondi!

Bondi is overrated but it’s nice when it’s quiet . Has a great walk around to the next beach. 20 odd years ago had a bunch of great little eating places . All gone now replaced by gaudy take aways.

I lived in Manly and worked in the CBD so this was my daily commute for 6 years. At 7am on a summers morning with a cloudless blue sky and sunrise behind the Sydney Harbour Bridge - life was good. Approx 20 years ago Sydney Ferries also operated the high speed Jet Cat service that took only 15 minutes to cross the Harbour. I used to take the top deck on the first early morning service and it was heaven :) You had an early morning cool breeze, blue skies and an empty top desk. I had my own private yacht :) There are organised tour boats that take you around the Harbour and explain whats there and the history of the Harbour. The Parramatta cruise is up river in a much smaller boat and not so adventurous but worth trying The names given to the Manly Ferries are from the beaches and small towns with the same name on the Northern Beaches of Sydney The small island you saw when in transit and where you mistakenly called the grey coloured launch a Police launch is called Fort Denison on Pinchgut Island and was former penal site and defensive facility, it now houses a light for Harbour navigation. Also in the Harbour is a major Naval Base and very frequently you see foreign navy ships moored there. Quite often you will see US Navy Aircraft Carriers visiting while on their ocean patrols. Passing one of the US Aircraft Carriers on the Manly Ferry really shows how huge the Aircraft Carriers are. Sydney Harbour is a busy harbour especially on weekends and is managed by the Port Authority who have a number of lookout facilities and provide an almost traffic control system. One final point Sydney Harbour is constantly being cleaned to maintain the habitat of rare sea and fresh water sea life. Sydney, Sydney Harbour and the other harbours [Darling Harbour etc] are beautiful and well worth visiting.

Thanks for your detailed comment. I very much enjoyed my visit to Sydney and the Harbour, the atmosphere around Circular Quay with the ferries, the cafes and the Opera house was quiet spectacular (like being in a movie) again thanks for your comment and info😀

I did the same trip many years ago, way back in 1992, so watching this brought back some happy memories. I'm curious though, I seem to remember there used to be an Isle of Wight ferry on the Lymington to Yarmouth route that was also called the MV Freshwater (named after Freshwater Bay on the Isle of Wight), do you happen to know if there was, or am I having false memory?
@msmarinediesel18435 жыл бұрын

@@msmarinediesel1843 I googled it after I left my comment, and there was indeed a Sealink ferry on the Lymington to Yarmouth route called the MV Freshwater. I think I actually went on it a couple of times.
