During 1991 I was involved in the fireworks crew to do the 10th anniversary of this tower. Fireworks were set up on the roof section and also the 1/3 up 'ring of confidence'. Seeing the small porthole in this video reminded me of the access point at the big rubber ring where the cables are held out from the centre column. What's interesting is in the areas above the public access areas is work areas in the top golden section. Lots of specialized communication gear up there and tiny office like areas. For weeks prior to the fireworks show there were tests done to make sure the powerful radio transmitters there didn't affect the fireworks squibs. There was also tests done of different fireworks in the early morning so nobody noticed.

I worked on the audio video fittout on the towe, there were absolutly NO SAFETY BARRIERS on the then open windows, every now and then i still have nightmares about falling as i had to work right beside the outside, with a view almost straight down. We used to get $2.92 per hour danger money.

I remember when I was a kid being mesmorized by this building. Now I'm 43 and watching this, thanks for the upload. 👍🏽 Odd they didn't mentioned the revolving restaurant. Shame they have since put that ugly Westfield logo on it.

I still remember as a little boy of 4 seeing the construction as they slowly raised the observation decks each time we went into the city.

I once spoke to a guy who claimed to be the Architect for the tower. He claimed they built the top first then jacked it up the 5 inches a day as they built the tower. It is also designed to sway 15 feet on a calm day in case of earth tremors . It is only hear say so I don`t know how true it is.

The roof height of the turret is very near to the roof height of the Rockefeller centre completed in 1932 in NYC😏

When Sydney Tower first opened, they had a Theatrette on the observation level where you could watch a video of the construction. Does any know know where I could watch that again?

As far as towers go it’s not very attractive. Almost looks unfinished

Looks better than the concrete towers that look like water towers or grain silos

The statue of liberty is a very ugly lady, yet it is loved by New Yorkers as the tower is loved by Sydneysiders.
