Now the Gladesville Bridge is congested in peak hour, only one little accident along Victoria Road sees to that. In the old days a tram service operated from the Quay to Gladesville and then to Ryde Terminus along the old route and original bridge. Just love the cars in the video, now classic.

I remember climbing the underside arch as a kid, there at the peak some in our group dared each other to hang from a horizontal pipe extending out over the water. I was happy to just watch..

This was a part of an expressway system planned for Sydney. Pity the money ran out, direct connection to the Newcastle Freeway was planned.

Yes was a shame, when you drive over the bridge northbound through huntershill you get a sense of freeway, then it just goes to a small road through lanecove

Industrious times. Australians just went ahead and built stuff back then. What happened?

Australia is currently building 6 underground city metro lines (3 in Sydney, 2 in Melbourne & 1 in Brisbane) a 2nd Sydney Airport that’s curfew, suburban freeway tunnel roads in Melbourne and Adelaide.

Pity this is in the wrong aspect ratio :-( Why stretch it from its original 4:3 to 16:9? It looks awful!
