Thanks for this great video Phil. It's hard to believe that it has been 20years. I feel the excessive access charge to these stations is a shock for visitors and first time local travellers. The trains also do not cater well for those with luggage especially during peak hours. Maybe they could have installed luggage space on the trains to alleviate crowding in the vestibule area.

@@Tolpuddle581 Can you imagine the huge cost to the residents had the access charge not been removed from Mascot and Green Square. NSW government does not have a good record when negotiating contracts.

Only ever used it once, when I was temporarily on the South Coast and needed to fly to Melbourne, so took the train in from Nowra/Bomaderry. In Sydney I drive or get a taxi/Uber.

I come from Campbelltown so go through there when heading to the city, it’s so weird at the moment seeing both the domestic and international stations empty.

Julian Lee I agree. COVID-19 has hit the two stations' patronage very hard. And Phil only recently started filming again so you can finally see the effects social distancing has had on some stations.

Who needs a metro?! These trains accelerated really fast! We should definately just extend the existing rail network!

Wouldnt be a bad idea for Sydney Trains to invest in some single deck rolling stock for the airport line.. however I totally agree with you in terms of needing a metro. Our double deck trains are quite quick

Rhys the S Sets went 35-45 years, K Sets are on most likely going to get to 40+ years. Plus they’re still slowly slowly rolling out the latest T Set overhaul. It wouldn’t make financial sense to scrap them after just sinking so much money and tech into them.

That will be the end of the BOOT arrangement. The 1997 Sydney Light Rail was built under a similar arrangement.

It opened before the Olympics, as an attempt to make Sydney's public transport look good... (The large fees made it the opposite)

That's easier access to get to airport from central Station to international & domestic.Via Mascot & wolli creek.& you have like modern trains running there now than the last S sets were before they were retired.

So, the T8 is a loop that extend the old East Hill line to Campbelltown without going through Liverpool, in 2 directions. That means say from East Hill station going to the city there is a choice of going through Wolli Creek or Sydneyham? Are both type of trains boarding from same platform? I wouldn't think every stations after Turrella would have 4 platforms each? Also for those train fly by Erskineville, are they using the T4 track or the T3 platforms? Just want to see if they have the potential of stopping at Erskineville when T3 is gone. I know T4 may take over but would be nice to see some T8 trains will also stop there too.

Ridiculously narrow platforms, not enough escalators or stairs. People congest the areas around the staircases in the center of the platforms, can't get past people with bags.
@aussiejohn5835
@aussiejohn5835 4 жыл бұрын
I do agree with you especially the narrow platforms but I suppose the many passengers who have luggage is to be expected at the airport stations. I really object to the expensive access charge to these stations which is added to the fare.
