Congratulations on the 1000 vlogs Phil, watched right through. :) If anyone is actually interested in the signals, the repeater signal is used to give warning to the driver if a signal is at danger. When the lights facing outwards are illuminated, the signal ahead or that it's repeating is at danger. If the lights are facing upwards are illuminated, that means the signal shows a proceed turnout. Only used if there may be an obstruction to the signal that it's repeating. Drivers do not have to stop at these signals, as they are repeating a signal. :) The ground mounted signal is a shunting signal, just used to give indication if a train can proceed towards a running line. Used mainly on yards and sidings.

FreakOut Are you an expert on NSW Signals or something? Reason I'm asking is because I'm interested in learning about NSW Signals and what different things mean and how/where they are used, etc. Here's just a few quick questions: 1. What is the difference between a Home and an Auto Signal? 2. What are, and where are, 5 Aspect & 6 Aspect Signals used? 3. What are, and where are, 1 Aspect, 2 Aspect & 3 Aspect Signals used and what variations are their?
@Clone30377 жыл бұрын
Hi, been a while since I've looked at signal stuff. 1. Your question is kind of confusing because there automatic signals and controlled signals. I'm not sure when you mean home signals because I'm unsure as to how the block system in NSW works. If you want to know how automatic and controlled signals differ, is that a part of automatic signals are staggered to the side whereas controlled signals are straight and not staggered, control signals can be made automatic at the signaller's discretion. When you use the term "home signal", I think (big emphasis) that it is a signal that indicates the beginning of a new block, I'm unsure as to whether they are usually controlled. 2. 5 aspect signals are common throughout the suburban network and usually used for when the tracks do not have any switches or points ahead for quite a while for example on the Western Line between Strathfield and Redfern. 6 aspect signals are usually used for points and their presence usually indicates that there is points just ahead, they're used because 5 aspect signals cannot display a yellow-yellow and only green-yellow, whereas the 6 aspect can. The reason why they display yellow-yellow is because trains cannot change tracks using points at high speeds, and the yellow-yellow signal is to set signals before the points to remind the driver to slow down so that the train can safely change tracks. 3. I have seen 1 aspect signals but I am really unsure as to their meaning, I believe they are simple stop, go signals only used for rare movements but probably a smarter person will comment and tell me better. 2 aspect signals are normal signals that are used in remote areas, where having a three aspect signal wouldn't be financially sensible. (consider maintenance, etc) From what I understand, there are some variations of this signal, but usually it's a difference between a red green variation and a red yellow variation. The red yellow variation is a distance signal and is used mainly to tell the driver, that they're approaching a station that they may need to stop at. 3 aspect signals are again, normal signals usually and used in low traffic areas where a 5 aspect signal wouldn't be necessary for, economic or maintenance reasons. You tend to see these outside of the Sydney suburban area. Sorry for the wall of text but I hope this helps you. :)

The signal at 12:40 will indicate what track a train will change to so if it was pointing left it will indicate the left track has changed to run on. These signals are useful for night services since you can’t really notice the track has changed. Btw congrats on hitting the old 1000

CONGRATS on arriving to 1000 STUNNING vlogs Phil! From vlog 1 to now seemed like a 15 hour Qantas A380 flight from Dallas to Sydney. Since your very first vlogs, I began wondering how much vlogs is Phil going to make, when I saw this for the very first time today on the 20/4/15 11:40am - 12:40pm, I put to my head straight away that your probably going to get up to 1 million vlogs just cause you'll never stop vlogging you said. Fantastic video, similar to vlog 500 'Lots of trains at various locations' but almost 3 quarters longer than v500. I have 2 accounts on youtube so please don't get confused about the 2 accounts that my name Vele Korunoski on them, they are both my accounts. I already can't wait for the next vlog to be uploaded. Good luck on filming the next 1000 Phil and again, well done on getting the first 1000 vlogs done.

I liked the blue and yellow Livery on the V-Sets. Not sure how far back that goes? I have not finished and may come back with more questions. How long since rail freight in NSW went private? What will replace the XPT's when they go? All done, now a great show even some S sets in there. Thanks for your hard work putting this together.

I know this is a lazy question...... Does anyone have a link or can show, all the different types of electric trains used in Sydney as passenger trains. From 1940 to present day? Also what was used before that? Before electricity was common place. Is there a website i can look at that shows all the different types of trains used in Sydney as passenger trains or local commute, from start to finnish/present day. Thanks

T19 contains cars D6285 and N5285, spares that replaced D6127 and N5127. D6127 was the first Tangara driving trailer car to be written off, after suffering damage in a 1989 derailment at Wentworthville, which was the first known accident involving a T set. N5127 was later destroyed by arsonists, which lead to N5285 replacing it. Not counting D6285, N5285, G set cars and other spares, the last regular suburban T set to be built was T59. T59’s consist is D6283 - N5283 - N5284 - D6284.

@nicholetheotter19575 жыл бұрын
RidePOV’s YT S sets have windows that open due to no aircon. K sets have flat fronts and sealed windows due to them having aircon. C sets have fibreglass fronts, chopper control motors and Tangara-like fixed seats.
